What is happening to the Philadelphia 76ers? They have one of the best teams in the NBA. Yeah, we get Joel Embiid and Paul George remain on the sidelines. But they have the firepower to put teams to bed, including, with all due respect, the Detroit Pistons. They lie 15th on the table and scored their first victory of the season.
Meanwhile, the 76ers started with a shoddy 1-3 record, this time around which shocked multiple fans. This was a team labeled as a contender for the championship. At this rate, making the playoffs look far-fetched. Anybody could understand why the performance pissed Nick Nurse off. On top of that, they have the Joel Embiid situation after the team got fined for hiding his real injury concerns.

In this day and age, you will get punished if you don’t take your threes. Significantly, Nurse went on in his rant and blamed several players as well. During the post-match press conference, the 76ers coach lamented the inefficient nature of his team. He detailed in his press-conference, “We didn’t put pressure on the rim with a roll threat. I think we did turn the corner and had decent shots on the rim but again didn’t finish a high enough rate of those.”
The 76ers generated some great looks from the perimeter but only shot a ridiculously low 28.6%. (8/28) He also didn’t like how the players didn’t take shots but just kept passing the ball. The confidence remains at the bottom of the Eastern Conference for the 76ers. Notably, Tyrese Maxey may be the only player who will leave the arena with his head held high with 32 points. But no, the NBA is not a one-man team.
He also mentioned how Kelly Oubre and Caleb Martin didn’t “have much force or any much going either.” He sure is right. Oubre Jr. finished the game with 13 points while Martin scored a shoddy 7 points in 33 minutes. Likewise, Nurse pointed out the lack of paint touches or kickouts, highlighting the team’s dependence on Tyrese’s scoring. Rebounding became an issue, as Drummond only fetched 11 rebounds. With Embiid out, they had a fairly small line-up, but still not an excuse.
In addition, Nurse analyzed Drummond’s game and said, “He wasn’t quite as dominant as he felt that the defensive in class tonight. Then, when he’s not out, and it really becomes everybody’s got to fight like, heck yeah.” The 76ers shot 41.8% from the field which caused problems.

Joel Embiid’s fiasco shocks the NBA as the 76ers lose again!
The NBA fined the 76ers $100,000 after false public statements regarding his health condition. According to USA Today, the league mentioned in a statement, “including by president of basketball operations Daryl Morey and head coach Nick Nurse, that were inconsistent with Joel Embiid’s health status and in violation of NBA rules, including the league’s Player Participation Policy.”

It obviously became an issue when Nick Nurse detailed how Embiid was “looking good” and will get his socks up in the coming weeks. However, when the league launched an investigation, they found out the center had a knee issue forcing him to miss games. With contradictory information out in the open, the franchise got punished.
On top of that, now this loss against the Pistons. Nick Nurse, though, went all in on his team and threw them under the bus. It’s challenging for Philly to get back to winning ways. They need their two superstars soon and hopefully; they get at least one for the coming games.
