A comedian’s honest reaction to the incident
Ja Morant’s journey to the NBA had been spectacular. Coming from a small town the boy had big dreams and did not fall short in achieving them. He dominated in his college basketball performances. And due to his spectacular displays, he caught the attention of scouts and was drafted by the Grizzlies, as the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. And due to his outstanding gameplay and charisma, the player immediately gained a large fandom.
But his career started going downhill when he was seen waving a gun on his Instagram Live. Due to that, the NBA suspended him for 8 games without pay. This suspension even had him miss the All-Star NBA selection and cost him a staggering $39 million. However, it didn’t look like he learned his lesson and went on to make matters worse. He was again spotted waving firearms in a viral video. In his defense, he claimed that it was a fake firearm, nothing else. But it led to the NBA further suspending him for 25 games in the 2023-24 season.
This suspension not only meant a further loss of income but also made Morant ineligible for any major awards.
Recently in an interview Aries Spears, a famous comedian, was asked about his thoughts on this incident. He said, “Everybody wanna show out for the gram, and due to this day and age, you show your thug level.”
He further added, “I don’t know too much about him, but I perceived that he was on some thug s**t. But then everyone told me that he comes from a great middle-class home and wears leather moccasins with no socks. But then when you come from that environment you can’t?wait to show off.”
