As the NBA season starts this week, ESPN has come up with new additions to the studio team for this year on Monday, October 24. This includes the former Knicks general manager, Scott Perry. Perry will be joining the team as an analyst.

The New York Knicks reporter at ESPN, Ian Begley took to X to share the announcement.

This comes as a shocker as the Knicks fired the general manager back in May of this year. Perry has paved the way for the team for six years with major improvements. However, the Knicks reportedly seem to be looking for young talent with the upcoming roster.

Amidst this addition, ESPN has let go of 19 of the top on-air personalities including Jeff Van Gundy and Jalen Rose. This has been connected with the franchise going through a dramatic shift due to the ongoing cord-cutting.

Moreover, with this ESPN announcement, come the other NBA champions and coaches as a part of this new addition. These include Andre Iguodala, Austin Rivers, Stephanie White and Becky Hammon joining the team.

The ESPN vision

In August of this year, ESPN also announced the arrival of Shannon Sharpe in First Take on Mondays and Tuesdays during football season. This went on to be a huge success since the first episode with Stephen A. Smith.

Sharpe was previously a co-host on Fox Sports’ premiere day-time show, “Undisputed with Skip & Shannon”. Now, Sharpe will be seen as a prominent voice for football on “First Take”. He will arrive every week to deliver his efficient insight and debate with Smith on multiple topics.

With now focusing more on efficiency, ESPN has made some groundbreaking decisions. What is to see is if these changes will ensure the franchise’s future growth.
