If you were to ask someone about this season’s biggest storyline, they would most likely name Luka Doncic’s trade from the Dallas Mavericks. The 26-year-old point guard who was deemed “untouchable” by many was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. This trade sent shockwaves through the basketball world and quickly became the most talked-about trade in recent memory. Doncic has settled well into life in Southern California, leading the Lakers into the playoffs as one of the favorites. Since this earth-shattering trade, a lot of layers have been revealed that led to Doncic moving away from Texas, some more brutal than others.

One such revelation was about Luka Doncic not being informed about the move. So, when he heard the news, Doncic was devastated and felt betrayed by the franchise owners and management. While people found it hard to believe that the Slovenian was not aware of his future in Dallas, a huge investment made by Doncic cleared the air. According to former Mavericks player Chandler Parsons, Doncic had just splashed $15 million on a property in Dallas. This indicated that the 26-year-old had no plans of leaving Texas anytime soon. “[Luka Doncic] just bought a $15 million house, just closed like last week in Dallas,” Parsons said on FanDuel’sRun it Back” show. “He cried when he found out.” Indeed, it was a tough time for Luka Doncic, who didn’t see this trade coming.

Moreover, many people called this bad business on Dallas’s behalf. The Slovenian not only took a financial hit, but he was also stunned emotionally. However, things have gotten much better for Luka Doncic since February. He’s been balling out alongside LeBron James and the rest of the Los Angeles roster. Nonetheless, the people still aren’t 100 percent over from what went down before the trade deadline, and Doncic remains a fan favorite in Dallas even after making the switch. Speaking of which, the people are eager to know if Doncic has any plans of returning to Dallas when he’s done and dusted from hooping, given he has a $15 million property in the city. “Can you see yourself ever moving back to Texas after basketball?Caleb Pressley asked Luka Doncic on his show, “Sundae Conversation.

Doncic was quick to reply to the question and said, “No.” Pressley then changed the question a bit. He said, “Doesn’t have to be Dallas, even Houston.” However, that did not make Doncic change his answer as he once again shook his head, saying, “No.” After all that Luka Doncic had to go through because of the Mavericks, it’s not surprising that he doesn’t want to return to Dallas after he hangs up his shoes. This also means that Doncic’s $15 million investment is going to go wasted, after he revealed that he doesn’t see himself living in Dallas after basketball. The franchise broke his trust and shipped him away without even informing him, so the answer by the 26-year-old seems justified. Meanwhile, Doncic is making moves in Southern California.

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Mavericks make a colossal mistake trading Doncic, or was it a necessary move?

Have an interesting take?

He’s feeling more and more comfortable with every passing day. I can say he just bought a house, he just moved in a few days ago, in Los Angeles. This was just over a month from getting traded. But the most important part for Luka Doncic has been what he’s told people around him, as well as Jeanie Buss, the Lakers owner, which is that he’s felt more and more appreciated and comfortable with how the Lakers have surrounded him with support, with inclusion in the process of everything. This has been a true partnership they’re trying to develop, and that means a lot for his long-term future.” Charania stated.

It’s great to hear that Doncic is finally starting to enjoy his life after the massive trade. Moreover, the Lakers have been treating the 26-year-old point guard with a lot of respect, unlike the Mavericks. Los Angeles is hoping to build around Luka Doncic. He is only under contract for one more year after this season, but will be eligible to sign an extension this summer. By the looks of it, there’s a high chance that Doncic will ink a deal with the Lakers and commit his foreseeable future with the historic franchise.
