Four days from now, America will be heading to the polls to decide. To decide whether they will elect their first-ever female president, or give Donald Trump a second term. While several people have reportedly already cast their choice as part of the early voting initiative, many of them are still waiting till Election Day. As a result, several last-minute endorsements continue coming in for the Vice President, including that of LeBron James! However, given that his Team USA peers, Stephen Curry, and Steve Kerr, have been publicly backing Harris since August, what made the 39-year-old wait this long?
LeBron James revealed the answer to the same during a recent Q&A session, as highlighted by Jovan Buha. The Lakers star revealed that his initial plan was to give his endorsement during the recent matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, he also revealed that “I didn’t want to overshadow, you know, the whole ‘Me and Bronny’ going back home. That’s when I planned on doing it. Um, so I figured, yesterday be a good day, everything’s kind of silent, and I wanted to make sure that it’s seen, heard with Force.”
LeBron James has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump since the latter was in office. His opinions about the billionaire turned politician came to the spotlight during a 2018 interview with the then CNN reporter Don Lemon, during which he stated, “I believe our president is trying to divide us. He’s dividing us, and what I’ve noticed over the last few months is that he’s kind of used sport to kind of divide us.” Before that, LeBron had even called Trump a “bum” after he ‘rescinded’ his offer for the Warriors to visit the White House after Stephen Curry had himself denied it first.

Trump took offense at LeBron’s “trying to divide us” remarks, and criticized him on X (then Twitter) by writing “Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!” In light of this, there was no question that LeBron James would not endorse Trump during the 2024 elections. He confirmed the same after he took to X yesterday to put out a 1:15-minute video announcing his support of Harris. As of this date, the post has received over 70.3 million views!
According to the four-time champion himself, any resentment he holds towards the Republican candidate was not the sole reason for him to back the Vice President to gain a promotion!

Referencing Savannah and Zhuri, LeBron James praises Kamala Harris’ stance on women’s rights “Feel like that endorsement is only right”
The 2024 election has the two main candidates taking a stance on several key issues. One of them involves the ‘Right to Choose’. It came to the national spotlight after the US Supreme Court overturned Roe V Wade back in June 2022. Out of the 6 judges who overturned the law, Trump himself appointed three. Therefore, the Democrats adopted the ‘Right to Choose’ as a rallying cry to run on, as they reportedly touted restrictions upon it as a restriction on women’s rights as a whole. As a result, LeBron James referenced his wife Savannah and daughter Zhuri to justify why he has aligned with Kamala Harris during this US election.
“Having a daughter, having a wife, having a mother, you know, and things of that nature, what she believes in when it comes to women’s rights,” said the 39-year-old. “Also, the future, you know, with my kids and where I see our country should be, you know, feel like that endorsement is only right.”
