The Portland Trail Blazers are in flux. This off-season they saw their most important player, Damian Lillard, depart from their team. It coincided with their lottery pick, Scoot Henderson’s arrival. They tout Scoot to be the next flag bearer for the Blazers. In a strange coincidence, he, just like Damian Lillard, has not only hoop talents but also the confidence to unleash his vocal chords on a microphone.

Are the Blazers the next OKC of the Western Conference? By the look of things, they seem to trend in that direction.

It is a custom in Portland for the rookies to sing in the Fan Fest. Not many players enjoy being thrusted in the limelight, but not Scoot Henderson. In the below video, you will see Scoot enjoying every beat of Mary J. Blige song, that he rendered as a tribute.

Dame D.O.L.L.A is a legit singer. His ?farewell? song was his ultimate tribute to Portland that he called home for the past eleven years. As he moved to the Bucks, the Blazers received Jrue Holiday, and DeAndre Ayton through a three-team deal. Jrue Holiday was the right veteran who could have shown the ropes to Scoot Henderson and other young talents of the team. But Portland wasn?t interested in keeping him around. They quickly gave him to the Celtics, and in return received Robert Williams III and Malcolm Brogdon. Both of these players are great talents, but not Jrue Holiday.

It would be interesting to see what is going through Chauncey Billups? mind. Did he sign up for this? Or is there more to Portland?s team than meets the eye?

The Team

If we look closely, as currently constructed, this Blazers team has some fine talent that complement each other. Anfernee Simons is a knockdown shooter. And they have veterans in Malcolm Brogdon and Jerami Grant, who are fantastic two-way players. Then there are the centers, DeAndre Ayton and Robert William III, who could enjoy a fresh start, and also could grow emotionally. With Matise Thybulle and others, there is enough defense and shooting for the Blazers. With all this talent, Portland gives themselves a chance to compete and lay a foundation for the future.
