Joel Embiid underscored his MVP status in a phenomenal performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Posting an impressive 35 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists, and 4 blocks, he played a pivotal role in securing a narrow 127-123 victory for Philly. This showcase highlighted Embiid’s versatile skill set and court dominance.
Even second-fiddle Tyrese Maxey scored 28 points. Recently, the 22-year-old described his teammate’s performance with just one word, after both of them made franchise history together.

In a clip posted on Twitter by the official account of the Sixers, an interviewer asks Maxey to describe his teammates in one word. The young guard took no time in describing Embiid as “Dominant”.

This holds true, especially considering Joel Embiid’s performance last game. Chet Holmgren and his team made every effort to stage a comeback in the game against the Philadelphia 76ers. In the final minute, they intentionally fouled Embiid, hoping he would miss crucial free throws. However, the Cameroonian delivered exceptionally, making all six free throws in the last 10 seconds of the game. Reflecting on his clutch performance, Embiid stated, “It’s scary, but I like it. That’s why I went to the ball every single time because I believe in myself.”
Interestingly, both Tyrese and Embiid snagged an elusive franchise record.

The reigning MVP has consistently scored 20 or more points in all 15 games this season. The only individuals in franchise history to achieve this feat at the start of a season are Allen Iverson (2005-06 and 2006-07) and Billy Cunningham (1969-70). Embiid maintains an impressive season average of 32.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. In the past 60 seasons, Giannis Antetokounmpo (2019-20 and 2022-23) is the only other player to achieve at least 30 PPG, 10 RPG, and 5 APG in the first 15 games of a season.
Tyrese Maxey contributed 28 points, marking the ninth occasion they both scored over 25 points in a single game this season. The historic duo of Elgin Baylor and Jerry West holds the record with 11 games in both 1961-62 and 1962-63 through their team’s first 16 games of a season.
