In a recent preseason matchup, the Golden State Warriors faced off against the San Antonio Spurs. Given the Warriors’ status as arguably the best and most successful franchise of the last decade, this game provided an early glimpse for Victor Wembanyama regarding the expectations placed upon him. Amid the amusing tip-off, Wembanyama appeared quite confident in his performance against the Warriors.

Another comical moment unfolded after the game when Chris Paul, in his 18th year, decided to exchange jerseys with Victor Wembanyama; in his rookie season. Due to the stark contrast in their heights, 6ft to 7’4 ft, Paul stood on his toes in an attempt to capture a decent photo with the towering youngster.

In a clear illustration of the considerable height difference, Wembanyama outmatches Paul by nearly 16 inches and boasts a wingspan that is 20 inches longer.

In the game, Wembanyama made scored 19 points in 21 minutes of play, contributing to the Spurs’ 122-117 victory over the Warriors.

Their patience has paid off, however, as they have now secured Wembanyama.?Gregg Popovich recently made a humorous response to comments from Steve Kerr, who suggested that Popovich is “rejuvenated” after acquiring Wembanyama.

Pop’s reply was candid and to the point, saying,??What was I being rejuvenated from? Was I in a mental institution? Or was I depressed and curled up in my bedroom or something?? Steve is an a*****e.”

Even though Pop does not intend to offend the Warriors coach, it is worth noting that Wembanayam does instil the team with a newfound confidence. For the 2023-24 NBA season, Popovich will be at the helm of the Spurs for the 28th year.

Previously, he has guided the team to five league championships (in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014). With Wembanyama in the lineup, he can now make a genuine run at the title in the coming years.
