2018 MVP James Harden has probably dropped the biggest bombshell of the 2023 off-season so far. After joining the Philadelphia 76ers one and a half seasons ago, the 10-time NBA All-Star has made some shocking claims against Daryl Morey, the 76ers president who shared a good relationship with Harden in the past. During his trip to China, Harden has captured the headlines for more reasons than one.
From riding scooters to a basketball game to capture headlines with his accusations, Harden has done it all this off-season. With his 76ers exit looking more and more imminent, Harden loses out on the opportunity to join an elite club comprising players like 2023 MVP Joel Embiid and Allen Iverson.

Harden’s time with the Philadelphia 76ers is forgettable for most. After all, the team crashed out of the NBA playoffs in the second round in consecutive years.
Despite facing disappointment on the court, Harden’s huge contract meant he entered the Top 10 list for the highest-paid 76ers star with just one contract. He is signed to a 2-year $68 million deal.
Currently, the former MVP takes number 9 on the list. However, if he spends the next season with the team, he will jump all the way up to number 4 as Harden will earn around $35 million according to HoopsHype.
The Beard will be behind the likes of Embiid, Tobias Harris, and NBA legend Allen Iverson. Embiid currently is the highest-paid player in the 76ers history having earned $167,691,076 from the time he was drafted.
Harden’s latest comments might be the nail in the coffin
It looks like James Harden has no intention of being one of the top earners in the 76ers history. After all, he called Daryl Morey, the 76ers president, a ‘liar’ during his trip to China.
