Sonya Curry snubs Klay Thompson as her 'fourth Splash Son'—Is she right or just stirring the pot?

Steph’s mom reignites an unresolved locker room feud! It’s almost certain that the Golden State Warriors didn’t have it under control after the departure of Klay Thompson. For a man who had sworn to retire as a Warrior, Thompson broke the ties abruptly. During this turbulent time, Sonya Curry made a blunder, almost immediately raising fears of a “family feud”.

This year has been a tough one for the Bay Area family. After failing to make it to the playoffs, the team lost one of its cherished gems in Klay Thompson. The 4x champ, on a personal level, had a difficult run in the last season. From losing the spot in the starting lineup to going scoreless in a do-or-die game. This certainly seemed to have played a part in the star’s departure, which has left the Warriors hanging and signed up with the Dallas Mavericks.

As Thompson’s core teammates, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, struggle to move on, Sonya nearly added fuel to the fire. In the latest episodes of her podcast Raising Fame, Mrs Curry hosted Thompson’s parents Mychal and Julie Thompson. Sonya, however, started off on the wrong foot.

In the opening statement of the podcast, she said, “I guess he is my fourth son, right? Stephen, Seth, Damian, and Klay.” But before even anyone could speak, Sonya corrected herself and said, ” I got to be careful. I can’t put Klay before any of the other three. A family feud going on there.” Fortunately, the guests let that slide past.

Without the family feud within the Warriors, Bay Area fans would likely be unhappy to see Klay Thompson as the fourth Splash son, despite being one of the original Splash Brothers, alongside Steph.

What’s in store for Klay Thompson in the upcoming season?

It’s nothing short of a decorated welcome on the Texan side. After falling short in the Finals last season, the Mavericks is once the favorites to win the next season, particularly with the addition of China Klay. Moreover, Thompson will have a chance to go up in the rings race, pushing down LeBron James and Stephen Curry to the second spot.

Moreover, the league knows how to make the most of a situation. After 13 seasons with the Warriors, Thompson has left a lasting impact on fans. Facing his former team is going to be a dramatic affair and the league will likely capitalize on this ‘clash.’ Recently, they announced the schedule for the upcoming season and specially made the November 12 clash between the Mavs and Dubs a nationally televised event.

However, Klay’s Splash Bro doesn’t seem to have completely moved away from the breakup. “It’s one of those hard things to kind of process just because I never imagined this would kind of be the reality… I always wanted to ride out in the sunset with those two guys and have an opportunity to stay relevant from a winning perspective while we did it..” Curry said about Thompson’s departure. “At the end of the day I want him to be happy. He deserves to enjoy playing basketball however long he wants to play.”
