The Lakers remain undefeated! Well, this has never happened in the last thirteen years, as the last time they opened with two straight wins was back in 2011. But this season seems different. And major credit goes to Anthony Davis who has taken the responsibility on his shoulders to lead the Purple and Gold franchise to success. Carrying the momentum from opening night, AD took over once again in tonight’s insane comeback win against the Suns. In the process, he also joined the elite company of Lakers legend Jerry West by achieving a rare feat, leaving the fans in awe.
In another dominant performance, The Brow went off for 35 points to lead his team to victory. And this scoring outburst comes right after he scored a 36-point double-double in the season opener against the Wolves. Sure enough, this made him the first Laker since The Logo to have two straight 35-point games to start the season. A record that the legend set in 1969.

Well, that’s exactly the kind of start the team needed from their big man. Even during tonight’s game, AD’s highly efficient performance helped the Lakers come out of a 22-point deficit. Apart from converting 61% of his shots from the field, he also made thirteen free throws. A true difference maker. Addressing his record-breaking performance after the game, he said, “Just trying to play the right way. I know coach wants to give me the ball, get me going early, being the hub of the offense. I’m just trying to do that, take my time, make shots, make big time plays.” And Laker Nation is loving every bit of it.
Anthony Davis creates MVP Buzz with a hot start to the season
As expected, fans were happy to see Davis playing at a high level and praised him after his record-breaking feat. One wrote, “This is definitely AD’s team lmao.” While LeBron is certainly the bigger superstar, he might be too old to carry the load of the team for an entire season. And fans have been craving to see The Brow in the leadership role. It sure looks like this might be the year he finally does it and becomes the primary option.

Meanwhile, one netizen even claimed “Carrying the “goat”” obviously referring to AD helping LBJ succeed in the later stages of his career. Well, that might be the best-case scenario for the Lakers as Davis carries the team every night while LeBron occasionally takes over games in big moments.

After seeing Davis’ dominant start, comments like “He has to be in DPOY shouts, but MVP convos have to start too” and “THAT IS MY MVP AND DPOY” began flooding in. Even during the game, Laker Nation filled the arena with ‘MVP’ chants whenever the ball was in AD’s hands. And if he continues playing like this, that idea might not be too far-fetched.

Upon realizing that West’s record had not been broken in so long, one fan wrote, “Genuinely shocked Kobe or Shaq didn’t do this.” Obviously, they were two of the greatest players to ever wear the Purple and Gold. But the only player apart from AD and West who had back-to-back 35-point games to start the season was Elgin Baylor. No one else came close.
