Los Angeles is suffering! The last fives days have been nothing short of a nightmare for the county as the wildfires continue to set everything in it’s path ablaze. Well, thousands of residents have lost their home and the death toll has risen to sixteen. Moreover, the tragedy is showing no signs of stoppage as the Palisades fire has now moved northeast, impacting the Brentwood and Encino area. Sure enough, the LA community could use all the help it can get in such circumstances. And the NBA is doing it’s part with a generous donation to support the victims.

As per Pacers beat writer Scott Agness, Adam Silver’s league along with the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) has announced that they are donating $1 million for immediate relief to the World Central Kitchen, American Red Cross and other organizations trying to help the people affected by the LA wildfires.

Although this is just a small droplet to make up for the vast sea of the expected $135 billion loss the city has endured, it’s surely a start. Even NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced a $5 million relief fund for the affected community. Turns out, Vikings, Texans, Rams, and Chargers also contributed in that sum. And Goodell assured, “The NFL family is committed to working with the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams to support their local communities in their time of need.”

It’s great to see that even though NBA and NFL constantly compete against each other for better ratings, right now, they are fighting for a common cause, which is helping the people impacted by the wildfires. Even some NBA players are doing their best to contribute.

What’s your perspective on:

Is the NBA's $1 million donation enough, or should more be done for LA wildfire victims?

Have an interesting take?

Well, a lot of members of the NBA community have been affected by the ongoing wildfires. Obviously, the first names that come to mind are JJ Redick and Steve Kerr, who both lost their homes in the tragedy. Although they were hurt because of the emotional value their houses held, the two head coaches are financially capable of coming out of this on their own. However, not everyone is that lucky!

Lakers’ videographer, Rohan Ali was left devastated when his parents’ only home went up in flames. Of course, Ali does not have the money like the players and coaches to support his family during this difficult time. So, Anthony Davis decided to help Rohan with a generous $20,000 contribution to his fundraiser. Even Jarred Vanderbilt chipped in $4,000. While this money is just a small chunk of these players’ salary, it can help bring Ali’s life back on track. And it’s wholesome gestures like these that will help the LA community cope with this tragedy and come out of it stronger. Do you agree?
