The Thunder looked like they had this one in the bag—until Anthony Edwards decided otherwise. Down by 25, the Timberwolves flipped the script and pulled off a wild comeback against one of the league’s hottest teams. Edwards wasn’t just scoring; he was everywhere. He racked up 17 points and came through with a monster block on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in OT that had fans losing their minds.
Minnesota’s record now stands at 32-27 after handing OKC just their 11th loss of the season. The Thunder, who have been running through the league, suddenly looked vulnerable. Oklahoma City’s game plan revolves around relentless drives and finishing in traffic. That aggressive approach? It’s also why their free-throw attempts have become a hot topic.
After the Timberwolves’ thrilling overtime win in OKC, head coach Chris Finch didn’t hold back when discussing the challenge of facing the Thunder. “It’s so frustrating to play this team because they foul a ton,” Finch said postgame. “They really do. They foul, they foul all the time.”

Finch also voiced his frustration over the way Shai Gilgeous-Alexander gets officiated. “And then you can’t really touch Shai,” he continued. “It’s a very frustrating thing, and it takes a lot of mental toughness to play through it.” Well, Shai is 2nd in the league in free throw attempted at 8.8.

This narrative gained credence every time Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stepped up to the free-throw line during their previous matchup on 14th Feb, the Target Center crowd in Minneapolis made sure he heard them. Whenever Shai prepared to take his shots in the second quarter, fans wasted no time trolling him. “Free-throw merchant,” they chanted, letting him know exactly what they thought of his frequent trips to the line.
Whether he’s foul baiting or not, one thing’s for sure, he’s only making his case stronger for the MVP title.

Shai Gilegous-Alexander achieves a rare feat
The Oklahoma City Thunder keep stacking up historic achievements, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just added another one. Whether it’s a team milestone or an individual record, OKC has been rewriting the NBA’s record books all season. In Tuesday night’s win over Minnesota, SGA dropped 39 points, pushing his absurd streak of scoring 20+ points in under 40 minutes to 52 straight games. Before this, the longest streak was 30. Now? He’s nearly doubled it.
Gilgeous-Alexander remains the league’s leading scorer, averaging 32.3 points per game. The last time he failed to hit 20? October 30 against the Spurs, when he finished with 18. That’s just one game under 20 in 56 appearances.

Of course, some critics—Nick Young included—have tried to push the idea that the Thunder inflate his numbers, even in blowouts. But that narrative crumbles fast. SGA has sat out entire fourth quarters more than 10 times this season and ranks ninth in minutes per game among the NBA’s top 10 scorers.

At this point, his MVP case is undeniable. OKC holds the best record in the West at 47-10, and SGA is putting up prime Michael Jordan-like numbers. If there was any doubt about his dominance, this latest milestone just erased it.
