Is Paul Pierce's credibility at stake with this Giannis trade rumor? What do you think?

The rumors of Giannis Antetokounmpo moving to the Golden State Warriors might be making a return. Well, there isn’t exactly a buzz just yet. The Greek Freak is comfortably settled in Milwaukee, chasing a championship besides Damian Lillard. However, this is less about him and more about the Warriors’ efforts to prolong the stay of Stephen Curry. After losing Klay, the Bay’s championship hopes are bleak. And the solution to his staying might reside in Antetokounmpo indeed.

Paul Pierce put his GM hat on to find a solution for the troubled Warriors. His partner in crime, Kevin Garnett was expecting him to suggest a suitable destination for the Chef to move to that enables him to compete. However, the Truth did a 180 which caught Kevin Garnett off guard. Why? Because it was “random”.

“I mean the only way I see Golden State getting back to where they need to get back is if they find a way to get Giannis over there,” the former Celtics said on the Ticket and The Truth.

Garnett was startled at first. He couldn’t understand the reason his former teammate would suggest a reverse trade. But then he remembered. Months before Lillard moved to Milwaukee, Pierce made a prediction about the same. It was correct to the very fine details, including Jrue Holiday being the sacrificial pawn. Hence, KG suspected Pierce knew something the NBA world still doesn’t.

“You got some inside information. That’s all that is. Yeah, you do. You got that sneaky ass I got it in the back ha, ha, ha look on your face. I know you. This is how you look when you be on some surprise birthday shit. You know what I’m saying?” said Garnett.

In terms of their contracts, Steph Curry still has two years left with the Warriors. If he doesn’t sign a year extension in the coming weeks, he will be on the path to becoming a free agent during the 2026-27 season. On the other hand, Antetokounmpo signed a 3-year $175 million extension last year that keeps him in Milwaukee 2027-28. However, the last year remains a player option.

Hence, the only way the Greek Freak will join the Bay is if he foregoes his final season to sign with the franchise. But is there any chance of him signing?

Giannis Antetokounmpo hasn’t ruled out moving from Milwaukee

Antetokounmpo is very much like Stephen Curry in his loyal ideologies. He has never entertained a trade away from Milwaukee. But the reason behind it is because he has seen within the franchise a shared urgency for triumph. But in any situation, if that objective begins to dim, Antetokounmpo has openly admitted to switching teams.

When speaking on New York Times’ ’48 Minutes’, the two-time MVP was candid about his thought process. As a pack leader, his priority is to have a team, a front office, and an organization that is willing to compete for the Larry O’Brien trophy. In case the Bucks fall from that stool, “the moment I feel like people are not as committed as I am to get that golden thing in the back, I am not” Giannis Antetokounmpo said during the interview.

After getting a scent of what being a champion feels like, nothing else suffices. The Greek Freak relayed the same sentiments of Curry, who doesn’t ever wish to be a ‘bottom feeder’. With the way it is aligned, there is a chance one or the other decides to sway. The deciding factor will be how the organization has placed itself in the coming two years.
