One of the best centers of his generation might be joining the Warriors in their quest for unparalleled success. Dwight Howard could be the missing piece that could lead the Warriors into a new era of dominance. The 37-year-old center has the qualities and skills that the Warriors severely lacked last season in their Western Conference Semifinals versus the Lakers. Howard adds rim protection, rebounds, and a dominant presence in the paint to the Warriors’ roster.
But it looks like the Warriors might not sign the veteran center according to Shams Charania.
Heartbreak for Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard went to Taiwan to play basketball after no franchise chose to give Howard a chance. Dwight Howard suited up for Taiwanese team, Taoyuan Leopards. But it looked like Howard would have his chance to prove that he could contribute at the highest level when the Warriors offered him a two-day trial. Howard was confident that he would sign with the Warriors after a successful try-out, but in an unexpected twist, the Warriors decided against signing Howard.
A dejected Howard took to Twitter to express his remorse. He wrote “Only as a WARRIOR can one withstand the path of knowledge. A WARRIOR cannot complain or regret anything. His life is an endless challenge. And challenges cannot possibly be good or bad. Challenges are simply challenges”.

Dwight Howard was a sensation since the time he set foot in Taiwan. The league was way below Dwight’s caliber. Howard dominated the league, averaging 23.2 points (2nd in the league), 16.2 rebounds (1st), and 5 assists (4th) per game in 33:25 of playing time. But despite Howard’s brilliance, the Taoyuan Leopards finished last and hence were the only team to miss the playoffs.

A Missed Opportunity
The Golden State Warriors want to capitalize on the current title window and are in win now mode. After trading away youngsters like Jordan Poole and James Wiseman, they have made their intention very clear. In the Poole trade with the Wizards, Warriors got veteran point guard Chris Paul to further strengthen their title credentials.

But not signing Dwight Howard might become a turning point for the Warriors. Howard has all the skills that the Warriors desperately need and Howard still has the talent to play in the league.
