Can Joel Embiid ever win back the trust of Philly fans, or is the damage irreparable?

“I see people saying ‘he doesn’t want to play.’ I’ve done way too much for this city putting myself at risk for people to be saying that. I do think it’s bullsh*t.” It has been only a few weeks since Joel Embiid called out Philly fans for their constant criticism. But the situation has only gotten worse since then as the former MVP continues to miss games due to left knee injury management. After suiting up for four consecutive games, he was ruled out yet again for yesterday’s Nets encounter. Sure enough, fans are frustrated, especially after Embiid was seen endorsing $3.3 trillion giant amid his absence.

Well, Embiid collaborated with Crypto.com for an Instagram post where he shared an image of himself wearing a HODL hoodie to endorse cryptocurrency. And he captioned the post, “Block out the noise #HODL #CROfam” likely referring to the criticism he has been getting from fans and media.

Obviously, the said “noise” is not going to stop until he returns to the court full time and turns the Sixers’ season around. And that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon as Nick Nurse announced that he will remain out for Sunday’s Clippers game due to a swelling in his knee. “We’re gonna treat it all weekend, so he’ll be out for Sunday as well and then hopefully, Monday we will give you an update where we’re at. Hopefully, he’ll be in good shape.” Nurse said yesterday.

Moreover, Embiid has not played at an MVP level during his limited appearances. Dealing with injury and rust, he has only averaged 19.8 points and less than eight rebounds. Sure enough, Philly fans expect a lot more from him.

NBA World gives Joel Embiid an earful despite his attempt to “Block out the noise”

As expected, the crypto endorsement riled up the Philly fans even more as comments like “You not blocking nothing. We sick of the sh*t” and “Buddy, you are the noise 😭😂😂” began flooding in. Obviously, fans are tired of the same story every year as Joel has never played over seventy games in a season during his 11-year career. Even the people who claim to be his fans are having a tough time maintaining their stance as one wrote, “It’s hard to keep defending you bro” while other said, “love u but… thin ice is what you on.”

Meanwhile, one netizen urged Joel to “play the damn sport” he loves instead of focusing on off-court drama. Although Joel has played only four games so far, he has been the talk of the town obviously because of his injury and also his altercation with columnist Marcus Hayes that led to Joel’s three-game suspension. Despite his motto to “block out the noise” Embiid has been pretty vocal trying to defend himself amid criticism. Even after someone leaked the information from a recent Sixers meeting, Joel said without hesitation, “Whoever leaked that is a real piece of sh*t.”

Well, Philly fans have been “Trusting the Process” for far too long and it has now begun testing their patience. And the frustration will continue to rise until Embiid gets on the court and proves everyone wrong with his performance.
