LeBron James is in his 22nd season as a professional basketball player. That is simply an astounding feat, no matter how you cut it. Especially considering that he’s still an All-NBA, All-Star caliber player. But recently, we learned what keeps LeBron excited even as he plays in the league as a 40-year-old. And this run may keep going for another two years.
After JJ Redick‘s appointment as Lakers head coach, LeBron’s “Mind the Game” podcast saw NBA legend Steve Nash become the co-host. And as the two discussed the playoffs, LeBron revealed that while the regular season isn’t as exciting anymore, the post-season has him bubbling with excitement.
“Listen, at this point in my career, like, I mean, the regular season is fun. It’s cool. Alright. But I just only care about playoffs…Like, I’m all about the process. And I will always be about the process and now, to get to this point. But if you have a chance to win it, and you know you have the team to have a chance, doesn’t always result into winning it. But if you have a chance and you know you have a fighting chance to walk into this ring and say, we can beat anyone,” said James.

While the regular season is exciting, there’s really nothing quite like the NBA playoffs. The hype, the drama, the stakes, they’re all at a fever pitch in the spring. And evidently, players like LeBron come ready to leave it all out there on the court for championship glory. And that only lends to the excitement because it simply means that anything can happen. We’ve seen a 73-9 regular Warriors team beaten by LeBron’s Cavs. We saw an 8th-seeded Miami Heat reach the NBA finals, and so much more, all in the past decade or so.
As things heat up in this postseason, we’re sure to get our fill of iconic moments. Several that will include the King and his new running mate, Luka Doncic. And if the rumor mill is to be believed, we may see another two years of the arguable GOAT.

Can LeBron James defy age and play alongside his sons in the NBA? What are your thoughts?

Ex-ESPN employee reveals why Bryce James’ career could decide LeBron James’ Lakers future
Just a few days ago, Bryce James, LeBron’s youngest son, revealed that he’d committed to playing college ball for the Arizona Wildcats. His parents seemed super proud of the next step in their son’s basketball career. However, this development led to another question forming in many people’s heads. “Will Bryce join his brother and father at the Lakers to form the first-ever father-sons trio?”
Well, thanks to Rachel Nichols, we now have an idea of how things may go down. In a segment for Sports Illustrated, Nichols spilled the tea for us all to hear. “All of a sudden, Savannah James said that she wants LeBron to play through when Bryce is in the league. So, that’s not next season, where he will be at Arizona, it’s the season after that,” revealed Nichols about the timeline of when we could see it happen.

You see, under the current rules, Bryce will be ineligible for the NBA Draft till a year after his high school graduation. That makes the 2026 NBA Draft his earliest shot at going pro. Can LeBron hang on till then?

Well, Nichols also illustrated how this could all feasibly happen. “LeBron’s window has now been extended, because LeBron for the first time in his entire career, can lay back for the first three quarters of these playoff games if he needs to and let Austin Reaves and Luka go and show up in the fourth the way he does, anchoring the defense, the way he cannot do for four quarters anymore—but can do for the fourth, if he’s rested.”

It’ll be quite the trip to see all 3 men in the James family playing on the same NBA team. Luka Doncic being on the same team feels like an NBA “What if” video you’d see on YouTube. But so far, LeBron himself has never confirmed these assertions. So do take them with a grain of salt. Regardless, we all want to see it happen so…Ball’s in your court, LeBron!
