The unveiling of the Intuit Dome, a $2 billion arena of the Los Angeles Clippers, didn’t disappoint. Fans packed the arena for the season-opening clash against the Suns. A first look at the Ballmer’s unique addition, ‘The Wall’ also draped over the Desert during the second half of the contest. 51 rows of only Clipper Nation rose, waved flags, and tried to fluster their rivals, in a game that required overtime for the victor. Did their efforts work, though? Not for the game, but Kevin Durant couldn’t get enough.
The Slim Reaper is a lock from the charity stripe. Yet, with ‘The Wall’ looking down at him, there came a possession when he missed both his free throws late in the game. Remember, this is a career 88% free throw shooter. After the game, Kevin Durant admitted the effects of the facility working with ravishing success.
“I absolutely love the wall that they got. It’s insane… It was crazy. I was just staring at it the whole time. I’m not used to that,” he told reporters while in the locker room. It might’ve taken him a while to adjust, however, once he did, the Sniper had his target locked.

In the fourth quarter, with the Suns desperate for a scoring burst, KD tapped into the zone. He scored 12 of his 25 points in the quarter. It included a challenging game-tying shot.
With two defenders in his face, and James Harden practically blinding his vision, the 14-time All-Star hit an effortless bucket right in front of the daunting ‘Wall’. Still, as an initiative, Kevin Durant noted it to be extremely effective. Particularly, the hooper feels when the postseason comes around, ‘The Wall’ could play an integral role for the LA Clippers. “It’s insane. I know the playoffs and once people get more and more comfortable with the arenas, yeah insane,” he said post-game.
The veteran’s kind words were an innocent praise for the Clippers’ animated owner, Steve Ballmer. However, the appreciation KD did shower over the ownership and the Intuit Dome has their fanbase already dreaming about his final act.
Clippers fans are convinced that Kevin Durant will join their team and his “best friend”
A swooned Kevin Durant didn’t mush any compliments for Steve Ballmer with the direction that he was steering the Clippers in. “Steve is doing a great job with this franchise,” he said. To bystanders, it was simply his way of showing honest admiration for the owner’s work. However, Clippers fans felt it was a subtle way for him to announce his ‘next chapter.
“It sounds like Kevin Durant is going to retire a Clipper,” was among the sentiments. During the offseason, the former MVP had an option to sign a one-year extension with the Suns. However, he chose against it, citing the focus on basketball and the team to do so. At the same time, he seems well-connected with the Suns’ front office and hasn’t signaled any sort of unhappiness.

Yet, history shows that Durant cherishes the opportunities of playing with players he loves watching. James Harden and he share a great history not just as rivals, but as teammates. Some fans feel his latest praise for Ballmer and the Clippers could be an enticing way for them to reunite. “Best friends with Harden. Loves Ballmer and the new arena. *insert next chapter meme*,” a Clipper fan wrote.
The Beard and the Slim Reaper evolved from being ambitious players to becoming bona fide superstars in their time together with the OKC Thunder. Furthermore, they also tried to stitch together a title trio in Brooklyn which included Kyrie Irving. Either time, their objective remained unfulfilled. While bleak, maybe he will want to give it another shot alongside Kawhi Leonard.

The urgency to have another star certainly resides with the Clippers. There is no timeline for The Klaw‘s return from the knee inflammation he is dealing with. Furthermore, the new blueprint of title contenders is to have a pool of star power.
“Trade for him already holy s–t almost every championship team has 3 stars, and every playoff team has 2, we have 2, but 1 of them isn’t even playing,” a follower expressed.
Since losing Paul George in free agency and opting not to sign a major force, the Clippers are devoid of the talent they once possessed. An addition of Kevin Durant, who averaged 27.1 points last season and is still a virtuoso on the court, would instantly elevate their chances of competing. With the Intuit Dome acting as a ‘sixth man’, they would experience a surreal boost with KD.

Fans feel strongly about his uplifting words in that regard. In 2 seasons, he will be an unrestricted free agent. They feel he is playing the long game to tempt the Clippers to keep him on their radar. “I have the impression that he is flirting with Clippers,” a fan accused.
Despite his positive words, Kevin Durant has a stronghold about his future in Phoenix. When speaking of negotiations, he forwarded his intentions to play out the remainder of his contract. Additionally, he shares a close relationship with Devin Booker and may want to win a title alongside him. Although the odds are slim, do you want the glorified scorer to join the Clippers someday?
