In a recent episode of his ‘KG Certified’, he emphatically said that “This is the year I’m expecting Anthony Davis to be MVP in these next two years or something.” Garnett firmly believes that Davis possesses all the qualities necessary to claim the MVP title. But why does he hold such high regard for Davis??

Firstly, he is the key power forward/center for the Lakers. His journey in basketball started to grow during his college years at the University of Kentucky, where John Calipari coached him. He then won the NCAA championship in 2012. After being drafted by the Pelicans, he has made 8 NBA All-Star appearances in his career.?

He has recently signed a 3 year richest contract extension in the history of the league. The staggering deal has made him over $189M.?

Secondly, Garnett then moved on to a comparison. Davis has all that it takes. Garnett highlighted Davis’ versatility in comparison to other top contenders, “He can do everything Joker (Nikola Jokic) can do. He can do everything (Joel) Embiid can do. What the f*** you talking about, dawg? I’m expecting him to be MVP.”?

Anthony Davis is entering his 12th season?

Kevin Garnett’s bold claim about Anthony Davis potentially becoming an MVP is not without merit. Over the years, he has been a key player, scoring an average of 24 points per game. In 2020, he was averaging 26.1 points, which factored in for the laker?s championship. As he is entering his new season, he is the second most important player after LeBron. The Lakers have put all their faith in him and rewarded him with the largest extension deal in NBA History.?
