Is Victor Wembanyama the leader the Spurs need, or is he just adding to the chaos?

The NBA regular season might not have started yet, but the off-court drama has begun. Pay attention, San Antonio Spurs fans, there’s finally some good news. No, the championship road is still full of obstacles, not that you were hoping for it, but the starting lineup could give you and Jeremy Sochan some relief. With the inclusion of Chris Paul, the power forward can finally go back to his original position. His frustration might have done the job for him. While things were settling for the Western team, the mic turned toward Victor Wembanyama to comment on Sochan’s situation, who left no stone unturned.

When Wemby was asked whether he observed any signs of frustration from his teammate in the previous season which caused locker room issues, the Frenchman handled it maturely. “I did not notice any unhealthy behavior,” Wemby said. “But, just as everybody in our career, you know, we go through tough times and especially when we go through a tough time as a team, it’s never easy.”

“When you get a lot of responsibility, it’s even harder,” empathizing with Sochan’s difficulties, Wemby added. The 7-foot-4 center further stated that he was there in the off-season and didn’t pack his bags to move to another franchise. Wemby also revealed how much Sochan trains himself in the gym. “I’m so 100% he’s responding the right way,” the Block Leader cleared the shot. Sochan also had his say regarding the failed experiment last season of playing him PG and how the prospects look this year.

“I’m not going to be thinking as much. It’s going to come more natural,” Sochan said in his new avatar on the Spurs’ media day. His pink-dyed hair is a breath of fresh air that the forward needed after a season full of unwanted surprises. When coach Gregg Popovich pushed his name for the point guard position, the Polish couldn’t turn it down. Despite not signing for it, Sochan started adjusting to the change as the roster demanded it.

However, he was clearly unhappy. And with nothing working out for him, like a normal individual, he let out his emotions, which hit the headlines. “You don’t see a lot of people go from power forward to point guard. There’s been some moments where it’s like ‘F*** this s***.’ I’m going to be honest,” Sochan expressed last year finding it hard to be a part of the failed experiment.

Now that Wemby and Sochan have both assured that the Spurs are past that, thanks to the inclusion of CP3, they can strive towards bringing back the glory days to San Antonio. But not so fast, as a former NBA star believes that’s a fool’s dream.

Former NBA star bursts Victor Wembanyama and Co.’s championship bubble

Victor Wembanyama’s rookie season showed promise of what a force he would become. But will his second-season ascendancy be enough to bag them the championship title? The former player-turned-coach, Jeff Teague, has his predictions ready. On the Club 520 Podcast, when Teague was casually asked in which year Wemby would get his first ring, the 36-year-old answered, “I ain’t gonna hold you, he’s going to. He got about year 7-8.” Wemby did have a fantastic rookie season, but the team was far from where they wanted to be. Even if he does not secure the title, it does not imply that he will not deliver an outstanding performance. But Teague did not stop at that.

Teague further added, “Boy that m———–r weak.” Ouch! That must hurt. However, this is not the first time someone commented on Wemby’s physical appearance. He started training himself early to come back stronger and shut his doubters. For now, he is training with his teammates at the Victory Capital Performance Center before leading the team to hopefully a better season.
