After Nikola Jokić led the Nuggets to a win over the Lakers in Game 2 of their playoff series, his older brother, Strahinja Jokić, who was traveling with him, was seen pushing his way down the stands and throwing a punch at a male spectator. While his brothers have previously been involved in altercations—like the incident during the Suns vs. Nuggets game where they were almost about to confront Devin Booker—this time, Strahinja Jokić hit someone.
After the incident took place, the NBA has been investigating, and according to recent reports Strahinja Jokic had appeared in court with a third-degree assault charge against him for his action at the Nuggets Lakers playoff game. “On Wednesday, a Denver County Court judge put a protection order in place that requires Strahinja Jokic to stay away from the alleged victim in the case. He also ordered Strahinja Jokic to complete fingerprinting and return to court in October to enter a plea in the case.” according to the Denver Post.

According to fans, the altercation began shortly after Jamal Murray’s buzzer-beater over Anthony Davis to seal the game. While the exact cause is unclear, some fans speculate that the tension from the game and the passion for their two-time NBA MVP brother might have contributed to the incident.
In addition to this, Strahinja Jokić, Nikola’s 42-year-old brother, has faced other charges. In 2019, he was accused of choking and pushing a woman and preventing her from calling the police. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge for blocking her phone service. Although he was initially charged with felony trespassing, that charge was later dropped as part of a deal. They have also been at the center of several altercations with players in recent years.
The Jokić brothers’ altercation with Devin Booker in the 2021 playoffs
During the 2021 playoffs between the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets, the Suns were up 3-0 and leading 83-75. Tensions were high as Jokic’s team faced a potential sweep. After missing a layup against DeAndre Ayton and not getting a foul call, Jokic pushed Cameron Payne to the ground out of frustration. Devin Booker then stepped in to defend his teammate.
Both sides were heated, and during the scuffle, the Jokić brothers, who were in the stands, appeared riled up and tried to get onto the court. They were seen shouting at and threatening Devin Booker even after the fight had been broken up. Although it didn’t escalate further, thanks to the Nuggets’ coaching staff, it highlighted the need for discipline. However, not much action was taken against them.

In addition, remember back in 2021 when the Jokić brothers got into a Twitter feud with Marcus Morris’ brothers? The Morris brothers were upset after the altercation between Nikola Jokić and his twin brother, Markieff Morris. So, altercations are not new for the Jokić brothers.
Anyway, their recent actions have had consequences for Strahinja Jokić, who crossed the line by physically attacking a fan. What are your thoughts on this?
