LeBron James defends veteran broadcaster Doris Burke. The ESPN broadcaster, who has often faced criticism from fans for not doing a great job, gets a rare shout out from the Los Angeles Lakers superstar. Over the years, she has been even called “Unqualified” by her colleagues and James made the criticism vanish away with a single post on his X handle.

A X user dropped a post, which read, “Doris Burke knows ball.” In response to that post, King James replied, “YES SHE DOES!!!”

Doris Burke has often found herself amid a flurry of trolls and criticisms. But, the 59-year-old never backed down from what she had been doing for all these years. Fans mostly criticized for speaking about the players instead of the game, during the play.

A few months ago, Jason Whitlock, a sports columnist, even called her “unqualified”. He went on his show Fearless to criticize ESPN‘s decision to remove Mark Johnson from No.1 broadcaster in favor of Burke, reported NY Post. Whitlock said, “I absolutely love Doris Burke… She does a really good job, but she is not qualified to be the No. 1 broadcaster on the NBA.”

However, in reality, Burke has all the qualifications to be an analyst and to pick up the mic to comment on the game. She had registered an impressive collegiate record, averaging 12 points and 5.3 assists per game. During her career, she produced 602 assists, which was the all-time record at that time, but it was later broken.

Despite coming from a rich basketball background, fans and her colleagues continue to push her over, criticizing her ability to call the game. Fortunately, the biggest superstar of the game, LeBron James, himself took her side to end the debate.

Following a regular season game in 2019, King James was spotted in the sidelines, celebrating without his shoes. In response to that, Matt Harpring and Craig Bolerjack described the act ‘disrespectful’ and also said, “Please. This isn’t playground ball.”

However, King James didn’t seem to hold back the criticism. Notably, he was shoeless because he gave it to young fans. Following the game, he took to his Instagram handle and hit back with a lengthy note.
