NBA 2K21 just came up with an announcement to surprise us. For a while, we were wondering who would take the coveted spot on the cover. There were several options to consider from and we know that there will be three different covers. Today’s announcement came with the big news that Damian Lillard will be the first face of NBA 2K21.

Anthony Davis was the cover athlete for NBA 2K20. It seems that the torch has now passed on to the Portland Trail Blazers player. From his tweet, it’s quite clear that he is overjoyed to feature as the Current-Gen cover athlete. For any player, this is a dream come true.

The trailer video has some of Dame’s finest bedazzling moments with a little bit of the gameplay. To see Damian as the first Blazers player to be on a game cover is brilliant for his team.

It was not a surprise as the point guard for Blazers was one of the first names on the list. Dame is one of the best in the business right now. For the Blazers, he made history by being the first player with over 50 points in three games. It was only a matter of time before his achievements culminated in a reward.

The release date for 2K21 is still undecided, but we hope the game will come out by September or October. The pandemic interrupted a lot of things, including one of Dame’s best seasons. For what its worth, it is good to see him on the cover finally. Hopefully, as this pandemic comes to an end, we will get back some normalcy, and what better way to do it with a new NBA game.
