In 2013, the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets traded their respective players with each other. The Celtics sent their aging Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Nets in exchange for five players and 3 first-round picks. As a result of this blockbuster trade, the Celtics were able to pick up Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum in 2016 and 2017 respectively. In light of this, fans became nostalgic on social media as they revisited the 2013 Celtics-Nets blockbuster trade.
Garnett was undoubtedly one of the best players of his time. He and Pierce, together with other players, gave the Celtics their only championship in 2008 since 1986. However, both of them were sent to the Nets which later opened the path for the Celtics to pick up Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in the draft.

In the 2013 blockbuster trade, the Nets not only received Garnett and Pierce. Apart from that, they acquired NBA veterans like Jason Terry and D. J. White. On the other hand, the Celtics received five players from the Nets. In addition to that, they also received 3 first-round picks and 1 pick swap.
Therefore, with the three first-round picks in hand, at first, the Celtics picked up Brown in the 2016 NBA draft. Subsequently, in the next year, they picked up Tatum.
Since both superstars joined the Celtics, they went on to become instrumental for them. By far, the 2021 All-Star has managed to average around 17.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 448 games. On the other hand, Tatum has averaged 22.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists.

Still crazy all the Celtics have is 1 NBA finals to show for it and they lost. They got the talent and yet they haven’t achieved more than the Nets other than finals appearance.
