Nathan Chen went into the Olympics as a World Champion, but he returned an Olympic gold medalist. With his flawless performance, Chen proved that he was there to rule the figure skating world, despite his young age.
Notably, he put on a one-of-a-kind performance to Elton John’s “Rocket Man” and bagged the gold medal. Pleased with the rendition, the man himself, Elton John, congratulated Nathan on his victory.

Nathan Chen overjoyed at Elton John’s comment
Nathan Chen came onto the ice and exhibited brilliance. He was the last one to perform and got the highest score at the Men’s Singles Event.
Chen performed a beautiful routine to “Rocket Man”, an iconic track originally composed by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. The song first appeared on 17th April in 1972 in the US as the lead single to John’s album, Honky Chteau.
Amazed by Nathan’s performance, Elton took to Twitter to congratulate Nathan on the win.

Nathan Chen was more than overjoyed at this. He couldn’t believe that the legend himself congratulated him personally.
“That was crazy. It’s nuts to think that he even knows that I like exist. It was really cool to see that tweet,” said Nathan.

Chen loved skating to the tunes of Rocket Man
Nathan Chen also went ahead and described how this particular routine simply brings out a smile on his face. He had fun while skating to the tunes of Rocket Man.
“This program that I had naturally just brings out excitement and fun in me. I really enjoy skating to it. It just brings out a smile without having to try,” revealed Chen.
