In the history of the United States racing, Indiana is a place that is held in high regard. The region can be easily classified as one of the hubs of racing in the country, even hosting one of the most prestigious and famous races in the world, the Indianapolis 500. Similarly, it has continued to produce some world-class drivers, including NASCAR legend Tony Stewart.
Indiana is not limited to only racing. A fever of sports runs across the whole state, and naturally, it has come to produce some of the best professional athletes from various fields around the world. The three-time Cup Series champion finds himself in another race, but this time in a different type of vehicle and with some new competitors.

Tony Stewart is known to be a proper Hoosier, born and brought up in Indiana, and a racer. Former NFL player Pat McAfee is another example of a famous sports personality to come out of the state. But the NFL’s most significant gift from Indiana would undoubtedly be Peyton Manning. But as per McAfee, Tony might even rank higher than Manning on a potential list.
McAfee and Tony have collaborated often in recent months, and in yet another appearance on the Pat McAfee show, Tony and McAfee finally go out to race along with his friends Connor Campbell and Adam Jones after being challenged in a previous episode.
“Y’all get it out of your system now because I’m gonna annihilate your a**es,” said Tony Stewart earlier in an episode of the podcast when considering the possibility of him racing McAfee. Pat then explains the rules of the race.
McAfee announced the reward for the race, saying, “We can’t get lapped. Deal? Boys, nobody gets lapped. One person will donate $25,000 to a charity of his choice. If he laps two people, it’ll be $50,000 to a charity of your choice and if you don’t lap anybody, it’s on you to do $10,000.”
Tony takes the lead right before the beginning of the second lap in a race of four laps. Unfortunately, he couldn’t match any of his three counterparts and now faced the responsibility of donating $10,000 to a charity of his choice.
McAfee applauds Tony Stewart for gaining an immense amount of expertise in the art of driving. He said, “You know there’s professionals at things, There’s professional walkers, speed walkers, they walk better than we do. There’s professional eaters. Every human on earth eats. They’re better than you at eating somehow. Everybody drives, this mot**rf***er drives.”
Looks like Tony was reminded of his days of driving in the Cup Series.

Ranking athletes in various sports can be different. Even more so when the comparison is between two legends of vastly different sports. But if you asked McAfee to make a list of the most influential sportsmen from Indiana, he wouldn’t hesitate at all.
“Before Peyton Manning got here, it was not a football town. No, no, it was a racing town and a basketball town. So a lot of young racers come up through Indiana, and one that came up through the Indiana racing system, that went on to not only win the IndyCar Series, he’s gone and won the NASCAR Cup Series three times.” said McAfee, singing praises for Tony Stewart and his illustrious career in motorsports.

“And on August 30th, I do believe, in Brownsburg Indiana, this m**herf**ker is going to be drag racing too! If it has an engine in it, he wants to race it! And he’s not just going to race it, he’s going to win it! Ladies and gentlemen Tony ‘Smoke’ Stewart!”
Tony’s influence has only grown with time, especially in his birthplace of Indiana. He continues to captivate hearts even today with his ventures in SRX and NHRA and therefore lays a claim to being one of the most celebrated athletes in his hometown.
