The 2021 NFL Draft created a lot of buzz on Thursday night, not just among fans, but also among athletes from other sports. One of those sportspersons keeping a close eye on the NFL Draft is none other NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson.
Many NASCAR drivers and their NFL counterparts are known to share a good camaraderie. Athletes from both sports have a strong interest and knowledge of each other’s sports. Johnson reacted to a special moment from the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
One of the big talking points of the draft was the Washington Football Team’s signing of 22-year-old linebacker, Jamin Davis. During the live broadcast of the draft, Davis’s profile had one bit of information that caught the eye of Johnson and his fans from NASCAR and IndyCar.

It turns out that Davis once dreamt of being a NASCAR driver and also is a big fan of Jimmie Johnson. “Wanted to race in NASCAR as a child. Hoping to meet Jimmie Johnson one day,” said a statement from Davis’s profile during the live broadcast.

Johnson, known as one of the nicest guys around, saw that and soon took to Twitter to reach out to Davis. “I want to wish you the best of luck chasing your dream @jamindavis25 and let’s get you to a race ASAP,” Johnson tweeted.

Davis must have been thrilled to see one of his idols wishing him the best. He replied to the IndyCar driver’s invitation to a race.

Another NASCAR legend, Dale Earnhardt Jr. also reacted to the interaction between Johnson and Davis.

The NFL star’s dream day did not just not there. The Daytona International Speedway, which hosts the iconic Daytona 500 extended an invitation to Davis.

NASCAR and NFL are well connected
This would be a very special moment for the young NFL player as two of NASCAR’s biggest superstars reacted to his signing. Johnson is not around in NASCAR anymore, but he is keen to fulfill his young fan’s dream.
NASCAR and NFL have seen a lot of crossovers recently. NFL superstar Alvin Kamara recently sponsored driver Ryan Vargas in the Xfinity Series. One of the NFL’s biggest names in the past, coach Joe Gibbs, is also a legendary name in NASCAR team ownership.

Meanwhile, Davis will now eagerly wait for his new NFL project and also his potential meeting with Johnson.
