During the podcast, LaJoie mentioned, “All of that never happens, if the leader chooses the bottom and then at least if you cook it if you are the leader, you’re the guy smashing him out of the way you’re driving off into the sunset. I really don’t understand that reason. I’ve never been in that position. I’m not gonna sit here and tell you that it just looked from the asset looking in zero sense whatsoever.”
Elliott failed to take the inside line and instead stuck onto the outside. Hence, when turn one arrived Larson locked up while late braking and forcing his Hendrick Motorsports teammate out of the track and down to fourth place.

Lajoie has not had a good season this year and it is evident from his points standing seated all the way in 31st place. He managed to finish in 27th at Watkins Glen International last week and now he’s completely knocked out of any chances of getting into the playoffs, even with another race to go. In case he does win at Daytona, which in itself is a far-fetched dream, he still would not have enough points to rank in the top 16.
