In April 2022, Zane Smith announced his engagement on Twitter. He followed it up with a championship victory in November to make it one of the best years of his life. Fast forward to 2024, and the couple is ready to take their partnership to the next level.

However, McCall Gaulding announced the joyful news on her Twitter handle as she posted, “I marry @ZaneSmith this week.” The news is nothing unexpected for the community, as the couple has been going strong for years now. With Zane Smith’s upgrade to the Cup Series, the news couldn’t have arrived better.

Zane Smith will drive the No. 71 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports, which has struck an alliance with Trackhouse Racing after acquiring a third charter spot from Live Fast Motorsports in 2023. With the kick-off less than a month away, a marital boost might be just what Zane needs for the 2024 season.

Every year, NASCAR organizes the Better Half Dash competition. In the 2023 edition of the event, McCall Gaulding beat 13 other female race car drivers and better halves of NASCAR drivers in a go-karting race. NASCAR organized the event in June 2023 at the Trackhouse Motorplex in Mooresville. Zane Smith’s move to Trackhouse following his soon-to-be wife’s victory at the team’s arena is a sign from the heavens.

Gaulding has won the competition three times on the trot already. Having succeeded in 2021 and 2022, she took the checkered flag relatively easily after 15 laps of the go-kart race. Some notable drivers to compete in it were Erik Jones‘ partner, Holly Shelton, Daniel Suarez‘s fiancé Julia Piquet, and Ariana Jencik.

In a noble act of kindness, Zane Smith’s fiance donated the $10,000 winning purse to the Atlanta-based charity organization, City of Refuge, which helps families and individuals in crisis. McCall’s 2023 win was the first time she won the competition on the race track. The previous two editions were limited to an iRacing-based simulation race due to COVID-19 restrictions.
