The Playoff season is just a few steps away, and with the rain-delayed race in New Hampshire, it has almost drawn to a conclusion. The race at the one-mile-long Miracle Mile came with its own set of excitement as Joe Gibbs Racing driver Martin Truex Jr. secured an impeccable victory. Even though Bubba Wallace had a good race, the 2017 Cup Series champion simply chewed up the race as he maintained the lead only to take the third checkered flag of the season.

Nonetheless, it was not just the performance of Truex Jr. that had drawn accolades for maintaining momentum on the track, but also the 23XI Racing drivers. Both Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick portrayed their extraordinary racing skills both in the qualifiers and in the main event on Monday.

However, it seems that Bubba Wallace’s team owner, Denny Hamlin, has a bit of advice for the driver as he tries to follow his teammate and enter the Playoffs.

The 23XI Racing co-owner warns Bubba Wallace of his desperation

As the clock ticks away and the postseason approaches, the Playoff puzzle pieces are finally falling into place. While most of the drivers qualified for the post-season through the virtue of a victory, it is Bubba Wallace who stands in the 15th position and keeps on straddling in and out of the standings.

Wallace’s teammate Tyler Reddick has already secured a berth through his victory at COTA at the beginning of the season, and so has their team boss Denny Hamlin after winning at the Kansas Speedway. Team owner, Denny Hamlin, gave a piece of advice to Wallace, given his thirst to remain within the post-season line.

In the latest episode of Action Detrimental, Hamlin’s cohost Jared Allen expressed, keeping in mind the drivers who are yet to make the cut-line, “You just can’t afford to have any off weeks. If you gonna need to put up 50 points two to three times, you not gonna be able to afford to lose points, you not gonna be able to afford to go to race weekends like this one and not pick up any ground.”

To this, the JGR driver emphasized, “You always have the budget for one more winner from the outside. When you set goals for the year, you budget, and a certain amount of people making in. The situation of the guys that we are talking about on this cut line, the four or five that are relatively somewhat closer.”

“They are all hoping there is not a new winner, but they are probably budgeting for it and they are probably looking at Bubba Wallace, where he is at, or whoever is in 15th because you have just worked off 16th and you are probably gonna get roasted in the final race at Daytona.”

“You just have to plan forth, is it likely, actually no it’s not, but you still have to plan forth. This race has got the biggest x-factor of attrition and anyone can win.”

Furthermore, it is not just Bubba Wallace, to whom Denny Hamlin has issued his advice, but also to the No.23 Toyota crew. In the pre-race interview in New Hampshire, the co-owner of 23XI Racing driver expressed to Frontstretch, “Certainly, would like to see a little more performance, a little more execution on the team’s part. The team has its fair share of growing that they need to do. They let him down in some spots, for sure. We all have to get better.

On the contrary, Bubba Wallace was able to deliver a remarkable result, even after suffering from brake problems in the car and persistent pit road problems. Wallace was able to finish within the top 10 bracket thanks to a fast car and the spinning of Erik Jones. He was able to capitalize on the situation and gain track position.

Nevertheless, with the Playoff hopes still burning bright for Bubba Wallace, it is to be seen whether he is able to maintain his position in the points standings or is tumbled down by the next victor of the race.
