A few days ago, the big talking point in the NASCAR community came from Justin Haley. The Kaulig Racing driver announced that he would be driving for Rick Ware Racing from 2024 onwards. The best part for him is that he has inked a multi-year deal with the organization. Truthfully speaking, some did wonder if he was making a mistake in leaving the Kaulig stable. However, there were others who felt that this was a good career move, especially if Brad Keselowski will be involved.

Where does Brad Keselowski fit into the picture?

Since 2022, Brad Keselowski has been driving for Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing. Admittedly, the first season was a bit of a mixed bag in terms of results. However, when the 2023 Cup Series season kicked off, the team was pretty much transformed. Both its drivers were racking up Top 10 finishes on a consistent basis and were often in the mix for a race win. It is also worth mentioning that RFK Racing has a technical assistance deal with Rick Ware Racing. Needless to say, the 2012 Cup Series champion has had a magic touch with his teams.

Talking about Haley’s decision, 23XI Racing spotter Freddie Kraft said, “I’m not trying to knock anybody, but Cody Ware and Josh Bilicki are not going to make your program better. When you get Ryan Newman in there, who knows what it’s like to drive a good race car, he’ll come back and tell you all the stuff that’s wrong with your everything. Not even the car, just team, whatever, all aspects of it. He can tell you what’s wrong with it. Justin Haley’s now been a part of Kaulig Racing for multiple years. He knows that atmosphere, he can bring that over there.”

Keselowski’s spotter TJ Majors added his take on the #6 Mustang driver helping out at the RWR stable. He said, “From when I walked into that shop, when Brad took it over, to now. Night and day difference. It’s like, its a growing—looks like a small Penske shop. Brad’s transformed that whole place, and if you bet against Brad, you’re an idiot. He’s a very successful businessman, he knows what he’s doing. Him even being a part of it, I don’t know why, Brad’s one of the guys. If he tells you, ‘Hey! You should do this!’ you should probably do it. He’s really smart like that, almost too smart for his own good sometimes,”

According to Kraft, Haley definitely has the experience for it. He also believes that Haley can bring in knowledge from his Kaulig Racing days. He even compared Haley to the likes of Ryan Newman, who could point out any issues with the car or within the team itself. Newman has a reputation for having a lot of technical knowledge, which he can impart to his team.

So if Haley is cut from the same cloth, it would be a big boon for RWR in 2024. This is especially true if Brad Keselowski is willing to listen to Haley’s inputs.
