Did Austin Dillon's spotter just cost him a crucial race with that slip-up? What a blunder!

It’s been three days since Austin Dillon’s controversial victory and everyone is still talking about it. From fans to critics, everyone has something to say about the Richard Childress Racing driver wrecking two cars on his way to the checkered flag. What’s more, NASCAR granted Dillon the win without any repercussions. Of course, fans and other teams would be mad at this outcome.

NASCAR had a chance to rectify the situation, as many people would disagree that Dillon’s move could be called ‘racing.’ Joey Logano the race leader who was taken out by Dillon, had more than a few words to say about the incident but in the end, Austin Dillon drove down victory lane and claimed the win. Among everyone, Kenny Wallace was one to talk about NASCAR’s call, and that resonated with many fans. So, what did Wallace have to say about the official’s decision?

Many believe that if there was to be a decision made on Dillon wrecking two cars, it was to be done at that moment itself. Kenny Wallace is a strong advocate for that, as he made clear in this latest video on YouTube. Despite being against the ruling letting Dillon win, Wallace believes that they cannot take the win away at this point.

The latest video by Kenny Wallace is named ‘NASCAR Can NOT Take This Win From Austin Dillon!’ In the video, Wallace explains his views on why NASCAR should not take the win away from the driver as he plays out how it would work.

The former Filmar Racing driver stated, “NASCAR’s got to come out, and they got to go, ‘Okay, gentlemen, we see that things are getting out of hand now. We’ve been watching this with the new Next Gen car, and y’all have taken it too far. Moving forward, here are the rules of engagement because we don’t like what we see right now.'”

Wallace held the authorities accountable for the incident, asking the crucial question, “Why did they miss this opportunity?” He then answered his own question, saying, “See, if they really wanted to do something, they’d have done it right then. You can’t let him go to Victory Lane and then take the win away. So the win’s going to stand.”

Have an interesting take?

After justifying why Dillon deserves to keep the trophy, Wallace talks about who the authorities blame for the crash. In the video, Wallace said, “NASCAR comes out and suspends the spotter because he comes out and verbally says, ‘Wreck him, wreck him.’ Okay, right there, what you did was incriminate yourself. You incriminated yourself verbally, all over the radio.”

While the spotter asking to wreck the race leader is not a good look, ultimately it was the driver who decided to cause the crash. Although NASCAR had their reasons to let this slide, according to Wallace, this was a missed opportunity.

It’s clear that NASCAR decided to let this incident slide and awarded the win to Dillon. However, according to Wallace, the right time to make a call was right after the car crossed the checkered flag. “But I want to be clear when I say this: capital M-I-S-S-E-D, missed. Missed opportunity by NASCAR,” he said while discussing the right move for the authorities to take.

Kenny Wallace believes that if the authorities wanted to resolve the issue, they would have done it by Monday night. Doing it 2-3 days later is wrong, in his opinion, and many would agree. Wallace explained how the authorities cannot decide to wake up one day and decide that Dillon shouldn’t be granted the win.

His main argument was the fact that Austin Dillon made his way through the victory lane and celebrated his win. This would make it unfair for him to have to give up a trophy that was already awarded to him. Wallace ended his video with strong words as he said, “That was bullshit. He’s not the winner.”
