The NASCAR fraternity has been in a celebration mode since the Cup Series season began as this year marks the 75th anniversary of the sport. Last month, the officials decided to add 25 more names to the existing 50 greatest drivers list. The beautiful gesture to recognize more drivers made it a total of 75 on the list adorning the 75-year celebration. But what more was a part of the year-long celebrations? Well, there are special paint schemes for the cars for Darlington Raceway’s annual throwback weekend. There are few mind-blowing liveries revealed by teams, but fans are very disappointed by Kyle Busch’s #8 car’s paint scheme.
While there are a few teams that have gone all out, giving tribute to some iconic drivers and their victory with their car livery, a few have not taken this in high spirits. As per sources, if a driver is not listed, it means either the team hasn’t announced a throwback, or has opted not to participate in this year’s throwback theme.

RCR’s idea behind the Kyle Busch #8 paint scheme
RCR recently revealed the paint scheme for #8 Chevrolet on Instagram, which, rather than being historic, chose to highlight the return of Lucas Oil as their primary sponsor.
The team decided to feature the throwback to the winning paint scheme from the Auto Club Speedway Victory of Kyle Busch. It marked Rowdy’s first win with the team since his move this season. While some fans liked what they saw or the idea behind it, there were a bunch of followers who were left unimpressed.

All other car schemes that have been revealed have gone back in time and honored a few NASCAR’s ace drivers like Dale Earnhardt, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, and many more. RCR’s decision to ‘throwback’ only a few months ago, hasn’t gone down well with the community.

Furious fans leave unfiltered messages for Kyle Busch and his team
Some fans feel it was alright to choose a paint scheme to honor his sponsor and first win with the team. But some fans were infuriated by what they saw as it does not justify the theme of ‘throwback’. A lot of fans left pretty straightforward comments on RCR’s post on Instagram showing their displeasure.
“Y’all let a lot of people down to much history with this team not to run a throwback”
“I’m sorry but to have no throwback in the 8 is a massive L”
“YOU F****ING BLEW IT”

“Nope, NOT a throwback scheme in my opinion. Coulda used their very first logo when they started the company. That woulda been better, and some sort of throwback.”
“What a missed opportunity man, holy crap this is bad”
“Why don’t we get cool throwbacks?”
