It had been quite a few races since we had seen Chase Elliott‘s teammate at Hendrick Motorsports participate in a race. After suffering an injury during a sprint event, Alex Bowman had been rendered out of the car across a few races. However, as of late, reports emerged that the HMS driver would be making it back into the car this weekend for the race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Following the emergence of this news, several fans asked NASCAR to begin airing his commercial as he joins the grid once again. Instead of delivering exactly what the fans asked for, NASCAR had something else special up its sleeve.

After missing four races due to a fractured vertebra, Alex Bowman has received medical clearance to get back behind the wheel at the upcoming Coca-Cola 600. Bowman sustained the injury during a sprint car race in West Burlington, Iowa in April, or we can also term it Kyle Larson’s new racing series.

At the time of the unfortunate incident, Bowman held the lead in NASCAR’s Cup Series points but has since fallen to the 17th spot while recuperating.

In light of his return, NASCAR has given him a waiver, permitting him to compete in the playoffs, provided he meets the qualifications. With 13 regular-season races left, he is currently just five points shy of securing the last qualifying position.

Fans question NASCAR’s double standards

With anticipation swelling among the racing community, Bowman is all set to get back behind the wheel following a period of injury-induced hiatus. However, the manner of his return has stirred a lively conversation about giving him a commercial among fans.

Many fans voiced their desire to see a return commercial for the driver. As one commented, “How’s that return commercial coming along, NASCAR?” while another simply stated, “Commercial Time.”

Echoing these sentiments, a third fan suggested, “Air the commercials. Cue the welcome-back party. You did it for Elliott…” The demand continued with others chiming in, “Y’all better give him his 2-3 week commercial.” and “Where’s the ads all week???”
