With all the wows and claps and long pauses of astonishment Ross Chastain received with his ‘video game’ move at Martinsville, he also got a lot of criticism from some pretty big voices in the sport. Two of those were Kyle Larson and Joey Logano.
Basically, the #5 and #22 drivers were of the opinion that such a maneuver to win a race should be banned by NASCAR, considering how dangerous it could be for the driver and the whole field in certain scenarios.

This was something that former NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace also touched upon as he shared his opinion on the subject.
Speaking about Larson and Logano’s comments, Wallace said, “Kyle Larson and Joey Logano, they think it ought to be outlawed! Why do they gotta ruin a good thing?”
“I agree with you,” he added before bursting into a big laugh.
He then continued to address the real questions in this scenario as he said, “Should everybody rub the wall? Well, listen, let’s break that down, you can’t, okay?”
“What Ross Chastain did, he did that for one moment in time for that exact situation. He couldn’t have done that one lap earlier because as he said, his car was destroyed, the steering was knocked off,” he described.
“You can only do that on the last lap, in the last corner, coming for the checkered flag.”

“I do not think it should be outlawed,” he said. “I do believe Joey Logano has a point. It is a dangerous move, it is meant for a daredevil…but you know listen, this is a dangerous sport, you can die, you can maim yourself and we’ve been through that.”
Having said that, Wallace added that such a move cannot be done at just every other racetrack.

“I really think it’s just a Martinsville deal,” he concluded.
