Later this month, Jacques Villeneuve will attempt to qualify for the Daytona 500. The 1997 Formula One world champion will race for Team Hezeberg this season and will attempt to race in the Daytona 500.
The Canadian has to qualify because his participation is not guaranteed. This is because there are four spots available for non-chartered teams. So, Team Hezeberg will have to fight to get in the competition and start the iconic race. This is Villeneuve’s second attempt at qualifying, after his 2008 run ended in a crash.
He said, “After I won F1 and the Indy 500, I guess it could be a difficult decision to take because if you don’t make the show, you could damage your reputation. You can damage the 30 years of hard work you put in your career. So there’s always a big risk involved in that aspect, but I just love racing.”

Can Jacques Villeneuve make it to the Daytona 500 this time?
Admittedly, it is difficult to say whether he can do it. He has the experience to do it, and he has won the final two races in the 2021 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. However, he has not raced in the Cup Series in a very long time, and it is possible that it could come back to bite him.
Nevertheless, Villeneuve is not the type of person to throw in the towel too easily. Instead, he will try his hardest to qualify for the race and compete in his first Daytona 500. With his failure to do so in 2008, the 1997 F1 world champion has unfinished business with the NASCAR Cup Series. It is also worth mentioning that the veteran driver has also won the Indianapolis 500 in 1995, though he is far away from achieving the Triple Crown.
