January 30, 2024, will be a big day for NASCAR with the release of the first season of Netflix’s NASCAR: Full Speed. The organizers are hoping that the docudrama will have the same impact on NASCAR as Drive to Survive did on Formula One. To that end, NASCAR and Netflix are doing whatever they can to market and promote the show as much as possible ahead of its release. Recently, three Cup Series drivers sat down to talk about the show: Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, and Ryan Blaney.

The Joe Gibbs Racing star is one of the drivers that NASCAR fans are most excited to see. Denny Hamlin has made a name for himself by being one of the most unapologetic drivers in the sport today. Speaking about the upcoming series, Hamlin expressed a lot of excitement, and one can be certain that the #11 driver will be binge-watching the series.

NASCAR released the promotional video for the series on their official X handle on Friday, featuring the three drivers. In the video, Hamlin said that the NASCAR: Full Speed documentary was going to be unlike anything seen before in NASCAR. He also spoke about how it will show what it means to put aside the race car driver mentality and being a father.

“It’s access like you’ve never seen before in NASCAR,” the driver of the #11 car said. “You gotta put on the armor and be tough but those times you gotta take it off and be a dad…like documentaries of other professional sports, you’re gonna love this one.”

Kyle Larson also admitted to being excited about seeing just how extra his fellow driver’s life looked like in the series. He also said that he wanted to see William Byron in the gym on the show. He said, “People show their personalities, even their wives and girlfriends,” the driver of the #5 said. “I guess I’m excited to see how extra Denny’s life looks even more on there…I’m excited to see William Byron in the gym, I didn’t know he went to the gym.”

Reigning Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney will also be one of the main attractions of the NASCAR: Full Speed documentary. Much like Denny Hamlin, the 30-year-old also believes that the series will provide access to fans unlike anything in NASCAR before.

The 2023 Cup Series champion also mentioned that he was happy about NASCAR, including the moment he flipped the finger at Ross Chastain during the championship race in Phoenix. Earlier, he had said that he was not proud of it, but he seems to have gotten over that little incident. “Know what the lives are like away from the race track but also a good insight into the sport,” Blaney said. “I like that they got my bird in there, that was good.”

It will be interesting to see how Netflix shows Ryan Blaney’s rise to the top from a point when no one expected him to even make it into the Championship 4. That transition will be a treat to watch if dramatized properly and could be what makes the documentary epic. What do you think will be the best part of the series?
