This Sunday is the NASCAR Cup Series race at the Talladega Super Speedway. In the buildup to the race, WWE superstar Sheamus helped hype up the event. Though if we’re being honest, he put a more WWE spin to the whole occasion. To be precise, the promotional footage focused on the various driver fights and face-offs.

In a voiceover, he said, “Racing has always loved a bad boy. A heel, if you will. Someone who doesn’t care about feelings or decorum. But a troublemaker will do anything to win. Today at Talladega, the same remains true. This is no place for lasting friendship The Big One doesn’t care about loyalty. This is the place where your friends are standing in the way between you and legacy. Its not about who you are, but where you finish, and bad guys… they don’t finish last.”

One of the main squabbles that made it into the promo was the NASCAR Xfinity brawl between Sam Mayer and Ty Gibbs. That particular post-race incident was pretty nasty and possibly ruined Gibbs’ reputation. Prior to this, he was mostly seen as an exciting young rookie who had the potential to be a future champion. However, this fist fight left a sour taste in the mouths of many fans.
There were a few other bust-ups that featured in this promo, but the Gibbs-Mayer fight took center stage. Hopefully, for the youngster, he is able to redeem himself in the eyes of the fans. It is also worth mentioning that Gibbs’ fight with Mayer cast a pall over the race at Martinsville.
