For many comparing NASCAR and WWE would be nothing less than comparing chalk to cheese, given the different formats and the basic ambition of the sport. However, if one delves deeper, both sports are interrelated in the sense they exude a vehement sense of undisguised personalities of the players, along with an avid and unrestrained fan base. While in NASCAR, family and relationships take a back seat, as the engines are revved up on the track, the relationship between the teacher and the disciple transforms into mere competitors.

A gamble that he believed would pay off larger dividends, after he left WWE, only to return back in 2022.

Rhodes revealed, “It’s funny, I had the best jobs, I was working for WWE. I started working for WWE when I was 20, I debuted on Monday Night Roll, 21. I had that job for 10 years and WWE is a big, I don’t know from an organizational standpoint, very New York Yankees, in the sense a lot of people dress up to come to work. There’s a lot of pumping circumstances, a lot of structure, very structured.”

“But the whole time I was there, I just didn’t adopt that, the style of the wingman, who was the boss, and then I left in a very burn the boats, burn the bridges. I had these big moments in time when I just couldn’t handle it anymore.”

“I had a really very good 8 out of 10 years, and then the 2 years were not so great, and when I left, I was planning what will I do, I wanna be different, I wanted to see that they were wrong about me, this being WWE. One of the ideas was, I would be doing these independent shows, very small wrestling shows […]”, he further added.

Rightly so, Rhodes disclosed, “I wanna be the one who dresses for the job type and that’s started as a total gimmick. This is a bit, a gimmick and then it just went my life to where now if I go in the bus and look into the closet, and there are no casual clothes, the suits, NASCAR jacket, wrestling gear.”
