It takes a lot of courage to believe that you can beat a NASCAR legend, with a 19-year career, in their own sport. But it takes even more courage, bordering possibly on asininity or ludicrousness, to say that out loud – and to add a tinge of derision to it too. But that’s what happened to Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Dale Jr amassed 26 career wins in the Cup Series, but his best finish was the third position he managed to earn in 2003. He remains to be one of the most successful drivers to never win the Cup Series Championship. He also got 149 top-5 finishes, led 8,234 laps, and won the Most popular driver award for a consecutive 14 times!

All those stats are clear indications that Dale Jr was no driver to be trifled with; he earned his credentials on merit.

The Miz, born Michael Gregory Mizanin, is a professional wrestler who has been performing under the WWE Raw brand. He however, does not agree with Dale Jr’s legendary status, it seems.

In a video posted by the official NASCAR YouTube channel, the camera pans to Dale Jr in the stands. The Miz then shouted, “Get that camera off of Dale Earnhardt Jr. I could beat you in a race with my Tesla.”

While that statement of aggression was most likely plain theatrics, Dale Jr’s stats speak for his legendary status. It probably will be much more difficult to beat him in any car, leave alone his Tesla, than The Miz imagines.

Dale Earnhardt Jr is a fan of The Stone Cold Truth

Dale Jr was wearing a Stone Cold Steve Austin t-shirt at Monday Night RAW, the t-shirt reading “Arrive. Raise Hell. Leave.” The fine piece of merchandise brings us back to the podcast he did with Steve Austin.

On the Dale Jr. Download podcast, he asked, “Do you have a moment in your career that you think is the most memorable moment for you?”

Steve Austin said, “I love working with The Rock and WrestleMania XVII was a hell of a ride.  And I love working with Vince because the Vince feud transcended wrestling for 2 careers… Vince was an awesome opponent. He’s an animal.”

“But to answer your question, that match in WrestleMania XIII. I knew we had those people from jump screen. I dived on him and started whipping his a*s and we’re going to a barricade and I start bleeding like a stuck pig… We had that crowd hook line and sinker and I was going to pass out in a pool of blood. The pool of blood was not planned.”

“That moment was, finishing that match, executing that double turn and laying there in a puddle of blood. I just performed my ass off. Laying there in that pool of blood with my eyes closed… Most satisfying moment in my entire career.”
