After a stunning blow at “The Glen,” NASCAR’s golden boy, Chase Elliott is now put in a do-or-die situation as the circus heads to Daytona Superspeedway. Surprisingly, Elliott’s fellow Chevy driver and former adversary has now mentioned how the dire situation can be used to the driver’s advantage to keep his playoff hopes alive.

Impossible is nothing is a moniker popularized by a sports brand that has deeper and resounding meaning in life. Putting one’s mind to something and focusing solely on it can do wonders as Trackhouse Racing star Ross Chastain did at Nashville.

While the #1 driver is all set to prove his grit in the playoffs, he has some inspiring words for HMS‘ disheartened driver who is now staring down the abyss with 0 wins this season.

Ross Chastain tries to fire up Chase Elliott despite the massive points deficit keeping the star from playoffs

Chase Elliott’s and Alex Bowman‘s 2023 campaign so far has been a troubled affair with both drivers still chasing the W as the regular season reaches its grand finale at Daytona this Sunday. While bad luck has done the drivers dirty with both of them missing multiple races, the HMS duo has also been unable to convert impressive performances to a win.

With Bowman and Elliott at 20th and 21st spots respectively, the duo is miles behind the playoff 16 in terms of points with over a 100-point deficit making their playoff chances grim and almost hopeless. However, HMS’ former adversary, Ross Chastain, gave them a new perspective in the hope of firing the duo up despite the #9 driver’s disheartened Daytona claims.

Once you’ve hit the rock bottom, the only way is up. And that’s pretty much what Justin Marks’ driver implied in the pre-race press conference at Daytona.

He was asked, “How do you feel being a part of this pressure cooker playoff year after year? Do you enjoy that?”

To this, he replied, “So, I love it because it gives us a real shot. It gives Chase (Elliott) a shot, Alex Bowman) a realistic shot and guys that are hundreds of points back and have missed races, would never have a shot.”

“So, I love it because it allows for me to have a shot. I have had the points lead, lost it, and given up over a 100 points. We wouldn’t have a shot without it.”

Much like Elliott and his teammate, Chastain’s “amigo” is also caught in the rut. Trackhouse Racing’s road racing phenom, Daniel Suarez also is having trouble lately despite coming close to a win at the coveted Indy road course. Though Chastain tried to induce some motivation, the driver did not give any false glory.

I am there for my amigo all the time man,he said when asked about helping his teammate.

“We have already had those conversations and have had them with GM and Chevrolet, and we know the bigger picture of the bowtie and what is important. We can do a lot of good for the 1 car and help people where we can.”

“Tomorrow night will be a key moment to do that,” said the driver with enthusiasm.
