“If my dad’s an example of what the rest of my life is gonna be like, we’ll be fine. He’s 85 and still racing a 3-quarter midget. So I still go race with him a couple of nights a year with the TQ series in Indiana,” Stewart said. “Until I physically feel like it’s hurting me or I don’t feel like I’m competitive, I think the worst thing I could do is to stop racing.”
Stewart’s father, Nelson Stewart, has been racing for over six decades and continues to compete in the 3-quarter midget races. Tony Stewart has often spoken about his father’s passion for racing and how it has influenced his own career.
“I use my dad as an example. Like if we told him he couldn’t race anymore, he’d go downhill immediately but he’s energetic. He’s got a goal. He’s passionate about it and he loves what he’s doing so it’s kind of the path I’m taking,” Stewart added.
Stewart’s commitment to racing and his willingness to continue competing as long as possible is a testament to his passion for the sport. Despite his age, he continues to perform at a high level and shows no signs of slowing down.
