The race in Indianapolis was nothing short of entertaining. Amazingly, the race saw drivers from seven different countries participate at the Brickyard. This also included Shane van Gisbergen, who was competing in his second-ever NASCAR Cup Series race. While it was a big moment for him, he somehow ended up instigating a tiff against Joe Gibbs.
Not many drivers could impress how van Gisbergen did in his debut race in Chicago. In fact, that played a big role in landing him a chance to compete in the Cup Series next season. However, he has to be more wary about the enemies he could make before starting full-time.

There is no doubt that Shane van Gisbergen has got plenty to offer on the track. In fact, the superlatives coming out for him from the Supercars arena speaks volume of his potential. It is indeed going to be interesting to see whom he joins next year and more importantly, how it turns out.
While that is a prospect to look forward to in the future, his present actions need to be analyzed. van Gisbergen was touted to impress once again in the Cup Series as he competed in Indianapolis, but his act with Ty Gibbs in Stage 1 didn’t go unnoticed. Gibbs came into the race holding the final playoff spot. Obviously, the race was of massive importance to his playoff ambitions.
While Joe Gibbs’s grandson started brightly, things turned significantly for him when SVG spun him, pushing him outside the top 20 after the contact.

Naturally, that was a huge blow to Joe Gibbs Racing and the 20-year-old. While it looked unlikely that Gisbergen had any malicious intent there, he surely hasn’t done himself any favors before joining the competition in 2024. Most certainly this act wouldn’t have gone down well with Joe Gibbs.
