The race this past weekend at the shortest Cup Series track, the Martinsville Speedway, was nothing short of action-packed. While Kyle Larson earned his second win for the season, Joey Logano, Martin Truex Jr, Denny Hamlin, and Chase Briscoe managed to earn their place in the top five, in that order. Though Hamlin managed to finish in the fourth spot despite all challenges, it looked like he was not satisfied with his Next Gen car’s performance in the race.

The Joe Gibbs Racing star has had a few tough last few weeks. We saw him getting caught in controversies because of his own words, and we certainly can not forget the whole Ross Chastain fiasco that led Hamlin to receive a heavy penalty from NASCAR. Now, after the Martinsville race, the #11 driver has found himself on the wrong side of the fans.

What did Denny Hamlin say to catch the fans’ wrath?

The NOCO 400 race that lasted for about close to three hours had Denny Hamlin show his frustration later in an interview. There, he spoke about the lack of opportunities to overtake with his Next Gen car during the four hundred laps race.

In a video posted by Noah Lewis on YouTube, Hamlin was seen ranting out his frustrations. When he was asked where did he lose in the end, Hamlin said, “Oh just you know we had the lead, and the caution came out, and we had nine lap tires, and we pitted therein, and it just put us back towards the end of the league lap cars and then just can’t pass.

After being asked to compare this year’s Martinsville race to last year’s, he said, “It was worse. I just can’t pass, I mean 30-40 lap tires, and you can’t just stay up front, cars that I was lapping, you know they are still in the front, you know they just came passing so we had to figure out.”

When asked if the race was a battle of track position, Hamlin added, “It is all track position. Racing is track position. With these cars, you just can not pass. You just get out front, don’t mess up on pit road, don’t mess up your strategy and you win. That is what the #5 car [Larson] has done.”

NASCAR fans are not very happy with Hamlin’s complaints. Fans did not like the fact that Hamlin chose to complain rather than talk about his top 5 finish. Seeing how other drivers could make a pass, fans also felt it has probably become the JGR driver’s nature to complain about everything. Check out what NASCAR-loving fans have to say.

“It sounds like it’s easy! Denny should try it.”

“I wonder if the crew ever gets tired of him complaining about every single thing?”

“Crying again, week after week.”
