One of the biggest attractions in NASCAR next season will be the former Supercars champion Shane Van Gisbergen. The Kiwi racer shocked the racing community in 2023 when he won his debut Cup Series race on the streets of Chicago. He is scheduled to take part in several Cup and Xfinity races in 2024. While that does sound like a lot of races, it did not stop Kyle Larson from trying his luck to get the Kiwi in High Limit Racing.

The High Limit Racing series is a sprint car competition owned by Kyle Larson and his brother-in-law Brad Sweet. Since its inception in 2023, the series has grown in popularity and has even given a fair amount of competition to World of Outlaws. If someone like SVG joins the fray, fans will no doubt go ballistic.

The Supercars-turned-NASCAR driver will make his full-time debut in the Cup Series for Trackhouse Racing in 2025. But before the Kiwi does that, he will spend a full season mainly in the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing in 2024, understanding how NASCAR racing works.

The 34-year-old is scheduled to take part in every single race in the Xfinity Series and 7 in the Cup Series. SVG will make a return to the streets of Chicago and run twice at the iconic Talladega Superspeedway. The former Supercars champion will also race at COTA, Charlotte, Watkins Glen and Vegas.

As far as Kyle Larson is concerned, SVG’s mid-week schedule seems empty and he would want nothing more than to see him join the High Limit Racing series. After all, a little sprint car racing experience wouldn’t hurt anybody. “Looks like plenty of free time to run the Midweek Money Series with @HighLimitRacing,” he tweeted in response to a post talking about SVG’s upcoming season schedule.

The Kiwi may take Larson up on his offer, but his main focus will be learning everything there is to learn about racing in NASCAR, especially for someone who does not have much experience in oval racing. SVG, however, is raring to go.

As per the Kiwi, things came together pretty fast, and he was thankful to NASCAR and the teams involved for letting him chase after his dream of racing in the Cup Series. There is no doubt that Shane Van Gisbergen will give it his all.

“I am still stunned at how quickly this has all come together,” Van Gisbergen said in a statement as per Road & Track. “I must thank the NASCAR industry and fans for embracing me and allowing me to chase this dream. I respect every driver who has put in the work to make it to the Cup Series, and I am ready to put in that same effort. I am anxious to get started.”
