It was nothing less than a tale of two phoenixes for two Ford drivers, and how they rose from the ashes. While one driver was able to overcome the obstacle of Round of 8 and win his maiden championship, the other proved to be a strong contender for the championship. The former driver being Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney, the latter being RFK Racing’s rising star Chris Buescher.
While Blaney was able to prove his doubters wrong and rise above his ‘Kasey Kahne’ title, the 2024 season would be a pivotal year for Chris Buescher, after his marking his clinical victories in the past season, especially his consecutive victories at Richmond and Michigan. With a newfound confidence in the 2023 Cup Series, the question that looms large over the NASCAR paddock is whether Brad Keselowski’s prodigy will replicate the same performance in the Daytona 500, or remain astray of victories, after a bumpy start in the Busch Clash race.

The Great American Race is still a week away, but the predictions for a probable winner are coming in hot. While a plethora of names have cropped up, including the 3x Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin, the other driver who seems to top the list is RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher.
It was a victory missed by a whisker for Buescher after he finished fourth in the 2023 Daytona 500 race. However, the Ford driver was able to redeem himself in the regular-season finale race at Daytona, after he claimed the victory on the iconic track, and after witnessing a nerve-wracking wreck. Entering the 2024 season, Buscher could not put his best foot forward in the season opener race in the Busch Light Clash race. However, it is too early to draw a conclusion about the driver’s fate.
The victory in the regular-season finale race marked the third victory on an oval track for the driver. Apart from marking his victories, Buescher was able to steer clear away of any major obstacles in the past season and only recorded one DNF. Furthermore, the #17 Ford driver recorded a career-best 12th-place average finish and bagged nine top-5s and seventeen top-10s in the past season.
Moreover, speaking of his stint in the iconic 2.5-mile track, Buescher has raced on the track six times. He had recorded an average finish of 19.8 and an average start of 11.1 while bagging two top-5s and two top-10s. Adding to the momentum is the newly unveiled Dark Mustang of 2024, which could catapult the driver to a newer horizon. Owing to his monumental strides in the 2023 season, Mike Bagley, on his MRN Live podcast, stated his stance on the RFK Racing’s driver odds for the Daytona 500.

He stated, “Following Ryan Blaney, the second favorite to win the Daytona 500 now, if you pay close attention, it might not be surprising, but it’s still unexpected – it’s Chris Buescher. Vegas has Chris Buescher at 11-1 odds to win the Daytona 500 right now, alongside Chase Elliott and Brad Keselowski.”
While Chris Buescher gears up for another Daytona victory, his teammate and team owner Brad Keselowski, is set to join the FOX booth as a broadcaster in the Daytona race for the Xfinity series.

This announcement comes as a result of a ritual that started back in 2017, where active Cup Series drivers braced the booths and picked up the mics as commentators of the race. Keeping the ball rolling, the 2024 Xfinity Series race would welcome Brad Keselowski and Austin Dillon as the guest commentators of the race.
Through a tweet, Jim Utter stated, “.@NASCARONFOX will continue to use active #NASCAR Cup Series drivers in the FS1 booth for all Xfinity Series race broadcasts this season alongside play-by-announcer Adam Alexander. At Daytona, Alexander will be joined by Cup champion Brad @keselowski and @austindillon3.”
