The NASCAR Xfinity Series race wasn’t the only big motorsport event yesterday. The Grand Prix of America, a MotoGP event at the Circuit Americas, was arguably a better spectacle for racing enthusiasts to enjoy. This was evident from Daniel Suarez’s presence at COTA, who was there to support his Trackhouse Racing amigos.
Trackhouse Racing is one of the few racing organizations that has multiple racing operations apart from competing in NASCAR. This is the debut season for Justin Marks and his racing outfit, trying to compete in the premier two-wheeler auto racing series. Suarez, who himself is a fan of other forms of motorsports, had a memorable outing and learned about the interesting nuance of MotoGP racing.

NASCAR races at COTA are always eventful. This year’s event was marred by track limit violations and the number of penalties brandished by the officials. While there were suggestions to improve the officiating side of things for future races, Daniel Suarez has now suggested feedback for NASCAR to improve their Cup races on the venue.
Suarez was referring to the dirt and debris that made its way onto the racetrack on Turn 8. NASCAR decided to race without the curbs, and with the track limit only on the esses, it was a free pass for the drivers to cut the corners. Sharing his experience from the MotoGP event, he said, “So it’s pretty interesting, something else I noticed that they don’t have dirt on their race track so that’s pretty different. I wish we were like that but maybe one day.”
He was also surprised by the speeds of motorbikes going into the corner, even comparing them to NASCAR cars. “It’s unbelievable what they can do, you know they go upto speed extremely quick and they slow down extremely quick but there minimum speed in corner is actually really slow. I mean eight seconds faster than us, seven seconds faster than us which I wasn’t expecting that. I was expecting them to be twenty seconds faster than us.”

Moreover, Daniel Suarez was also open to the idea of having a crossover event between NASCAR and MotoGP. Stating that such a collaboration would be a win-win for both series.

NASCAR has previously paired up with IndyCar at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard event. So an idea about them partnering with MotoGP is not a wild thought, but something that will only help NASCAR grow. The Trackhouse Racing star driver also explained the positive impact of such a collaboration and how it would be a win-win situation for both series.

“I think it would be a win-win for both series, especially how international MotoGP is. NASCAR is very, very strong in the United States, but it needs to continue to grow worldwide. And MotoGP is the other way around, it’s very big everywhere but needs to grow in the United States. That would be amazing for both series. That’s why I think it would be a win-win,” Suarez said via Motorsport.
Daniel Suarez did have a point about partnering with MotoGP to promote NASCAR. Moreover, with the U.S. company Liberty Media taking over as the custodian of MotoGP, the probability of such a collaboration only increases.
