So close, yet so far. That was the story of Kyle Busch’s 2024 NASCAR Cup Series campaign. The Richard Childress Racing driver was desperate to keep alive his streak of winning a race every year for 19 years. However, close calls and bad luck ruined his streak. Early in the season at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Busch led 28 laps and was involved in a three-wide finish with Daniel Suarez and Ryan Blaney. He ended up claiming third place. However, Kyle Busch shifted focus to his son, Brexton Busch’s racing career in October last year and it paid dividends.

Despite being known as the ‘Rowdy’, Busch doesn’t take himself too seriously. The two-time Cup Series champion took to X to post about a time in 2024 when things weren’t so gloomy and fans were full of praise for Busch’s ability to find humor in pain.

For every driver, there comes a time in their career that things seem to go for a toss. That was Kyle Busch in 2024. With no win in sight, he decided to race at Millbridge Speedway with Brexton and turned his year around. His winless drought came to an end by securing a win at the Micro Sprint championship in the 600cc Winged class at the 1/6-mile oval at Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Along with Rowdy, his little 9-year-old boy also contributed to a great drive. Taking a slight dig at how he didn’t fair well during his NASCAR run, Kyle Busch posted on X, “I did win something in 2024, the Wing Micro championship at Millbridge. And it made me feel great!!🤣🤣 Jokes aside I had fun racing with Brex on Wednesday, and can’t wait to do more of that this summer. Thanks for @Lucas_Oil, @d1driven, Lineman, Guhl, and everyone else!”.

Rowdy will be next taking part in the Chili Bowl Nationals, and he seems in good spirits. Even his wife, Samantha was seen ecstatic about the 2024 victory and applauded the boys on their success. Her Instagram post read, “Congrats to my boys on their. @millbridgespeedway championships!! Watching you two BTS talking racing, watching film, practicing and tho you would think it’s one-sided giving each other advice. It’s special to watch your bond and talents. Lennix and I love being there to cheer you both on 🏁🏆❤️”. Busch started 2025 on a bright note, winning two heat races at the Tulsa Shootout in the winged outlaw and non-winged outlaw class. Meanwhile, his son took home his first Golden Driller in the junior sprints!

This victory at the micro tracks and the heartfelt post by Busch has left fans expecting more on the NASCAR tracks. Busch has held a legacy for more than two decades now and given how he has claimed the Cup Series Championship twice already, his worth as a driven is proven. Speaking of his skills as a driver, a fan commented, “That’s who and what YOU are CHAMP! Hey we get it, RCR has to give you the horse and you’ll do what you do. You can’t make chicken salad with chicken sh-t…I’ll be in Daytona watching you win the 500, so it’s all good! 🎱🏆🏆 #51🏆”. A win at the crown jewel event would certainly be a stunning way to break that drought.

Father and son combinations are quite popular when it comes to the world of NASCAR. However, seeing someone as young as Brexton hold the steering alongside Daddy Busch is quite rare. Acknowledging Brexton’s skills, a fan said, “Way to go!! Glad to see you and Brex racing together!! 🏁🏁”. To witness your kids take on the lead and render success through their endeavors is one of the best feelings that any parent can feel. Speaking of the same, a fan commented, “There’s nothing better than watching your kids compete in whatever sport they love other than watching your grandkids, talk about stress! Wouldn’t trade it for anything!”.

The world of motorsports is tough and to win any race takes a lot of practice and skill. Appreciating the same, a fan said, “No championship in racing is easy to win on any level congratulations!”. Consequently, children indeed learn the best from their parents. As mentors, it is important to cultivate the skills from childhood, and Samantha and Kyle Busch have certainly succeeded in it. Commending the parenting Brexton has received, a fan said, “Kyle you won at bieng a Dad! You and Sam ROCK!”.
