Daniel Suarez might be feeling a whole lot better about himself with his win at the Mexico Series event at the Coliseum. However, when it comes to Cup Series duties, the former Xfinity Series champion is sitting in a hot seat at Trackhouse Racing. Only the best and the most talented drivers make it to the top level of stock-car racing, and this has been the case with Suarez. But despite his early positive stints in the team, after three years and a roller coaster ride, he is staring at an uncertain future going into the 2024 season.

Confidence is king when it comes to racing, and unfortunately for THR’s No.99, it just has been a constant up-and-down ride since joining the new Cup team. Opportunities in the Cup Series are like gold dust for the drivers. Often it’s the case that they make the most of it or sink under the constant pressure and demands of the gruesome series. Going into the 2024 season, there are a lot of talks about the Mexican’s driver’s future in the team. There’s a full season ahead of the driver that could very well turn the tide in his favor.

Will the 2024 Cup Series turn out to be Suarez’s last dance with Trackhouse Racing?

Kyle Larson & HMS Are Planning to Return to Indy 500 Next Year. But Should They?

Yes! It Is Great for NASCAR

No, It Was a Disaster This Time

Daniel Suarez can be termed as the prospect who has yet to live up to his potential in the NASCAR Cup Series. It’s not that the 32-year-old does not know what winning tastes like but it’s his inability to gather momentum and build on it. 2022 looked like a promising year for the driver on the back of his first win at Sonoma, making his way into the playoffs but 2023 was just a downhill ride for him. A season he would like to forget.

Winless throughout 2023 and with a mediocre P19 finish in the championship standing, there are serious doubts about his potential and his future in the team. Moreover, with the team investing in drivers like Zane Smith and Shane Van Gisbergen, there’s added pressure on the Mexican driver to deliver the goods this time around. But it’s not the case that the team has completely lost their faith in him.

Trackhouse believes that there is more to Suarez and therefore have handed him a big opportunity. The driver himself is very much aware of the situation he is in but the ball is in his court and he will need to make this one count. A streak of good results and a win could prove to be a major turnaround for him in 2024. However, it will take some doing considering the competition.

There’s no doubting Suarez’s talent. However, it takes much more than just talent to make your mark in the NASCAR Cup Series. Fortunately for THR, Suarez is well aware about his frailties and is willing to work on them.

Suarez was touted to be one of the best prospects but again, he could not live up to his billing. There were a few hurdles for him as he is seen as an ‘outsider’. But again, given that he has been around the sport for long, he should have been up to speed. The good thing about Daniel Suarez is that he is conscious of his shortcomings.

Explaining how tough it is to compete in the Cup Series, Suarez while speaking to Bob Pockrass, said, “I felt like I was gifted and I still feel that way. But whenever you get to go up the ranks in the Cup Series, you start to realize that everyone is as gifted as you are. 98 percent of drivers in the Cup Series are very very talented. After that, you start to see the details(…) The little things that really matter is how disciplined you are, the hard work you are willing to put in, how good of a team you have, how good of a people you have. There is so many different factors. To be able to understand all these different factors and build these around you, that’s the part that has cost me a lot.”
