NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson will bid goodbye to NASCAR soon to look for other avenues in racing. Now rumors are coming that Jimmie might be interested in a drive with Maclaren Racing in IndyCar.
In March, Johnson even joined the IndyCar Esports tournament for a few races. Mclaren boss, Zak Brown has conceded that Jimmie Johnson and Jenson Button are keen on racing a third Arrow McLaren SP-Chevrolet. And Fernando Alonso could furthermore contend in races other than the Indy 500.
Johnson was to test an Arrow McLaren SP-Chevrolet IndyCar at Barber Motorsports Park in April. However, it couldn’t happen because of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

In a podcast with Motorsport.com, Zak Brown says that Johnson’s and Button’s IndyCar desire has been incidentally placed aside momentarily by the absence of testing days accessible in the overhauled 2020 schedule.
”I’ve spoken to all three drivers and it goes without saying that they are all very competitive. They could all get into the sport without a huge preparation and it would not surprise me if we will see one of them or perhaps several at a time in IndyCar”, says Brown.

Jimmie Johnson swapped Fernando Alonso’s F1 car
Johnson has been sampling different classes of racing for some time now. In 2018, he got an opportunity to swap cars with F1 champion Fernando Alonso at Bahrain. The driver blew everyone with his skills and managed to put a surprising result.
Alonso drove the F1 vehicle for a couple of laps to set a benchmark time of 1:40.204s. Jimmie figured out everything quickly and posted a 1:40.462s during his F1 run. A little more than two tenths short of the double world champion.
